A-Rod is absolutely ridiculous... At this rate, he's gonna hit fuckin' 70 homeruns. It feels like he's been hitting one in every game lately.

<p>And if Giambi doesn't find a way to get something going by July, I think it'll be time to officially call his career dead.</p><p>Uh...no I don't think that's true. We HAVE to send him to the minors so he can learn how to hit again. He's used to pulling the ball, and now that he's off the roids he probably still thinks he can keep doing that. If he's taught how to hit the other way again, I'm sure he'll become as good as he used to be. But you can't just say that his career is dead.</p>

I don't think he'll get booed this weekend if he happens to
under-perform, baseball is a game of failure and with how hot's he's
been he can just as easily cool off at any time. He's won us alot of
games recently, why boo him just because he doesn't play well for 3
games? It's not even June. <br />

YOu can't really boo him this weekend if he doesn't have a great performance... I mean, I can understand boo's after a LONG stretch of zero production, like Giambi is getting... But I mean, a major MAJOR part of this 15 for 17 run has been due to A-Rod's contribution. The guy's not hitting meaningless homeruns and base hits. A lot of his big offensive plays have been the deciding factors in these games, as it was tonight. I'm not down for boo'ing a guy if he goes a day without a hit. In the last 17 games, A-Rod's done enough to earn himself non-booing status for a while. He'd have to hit another long hardcore slump to deserve getting boo'ed again.

I think it's easy to say "we need to see him do it in the playoffs" and I agree with that... but you can't discredit him for doing it during the regular season, cuz if you don't deliver during the season, you ain't even makin' the playoffs. It may be the Tigers and the A's, but these games count too... In a division with the Red Sox and these new Orioles, you can't just assume we'll end up in the playoffs.

Good point. and point well taken Hawk. I'm not saying it means nothing because he is fun to watch and is one of the main reasons why the Yanks are winning again. In fact him succeeding is a double whammy for Yankee haters. The only thing worse for Jealous Arod fans the him hitting is him hitting and helping the Yankees. So when he does good its double good. I just like to see him hit against the Redsox thats all.

<p><font size="1">"In a division with the Red Sox and these new Orioles, you can't just assume we'll end up in the playoffs." </font></p><p>Hey fuck you Hawk! You might want to look to your side at the very young and great pitching Blue Jays. In fact, the spanks have never led them this season yet. If the Jays came out of this division it might be that first sign of the apocalypse the republican right can't seem to wait for. But wouldn't it be nice to see three big money teams get beat by a bunch of hard playing kids who love the game. If you win a championship, let alone a division with teams/budgets like the Twins, Jays and A's, you've earned it the old fashioned way. Hell, you actually deserve it! Arod couldn't lead any of his past teams to a title, neither could Clemens and many others. They had to go to the all-star teams. Let's be serious, Boston has been the same as the Yanks for a long time now too. Big money may not guarantee you a title, but it does raise the odds since most of these teams make the playoffs. </p>

<p>Wadd, as a complete sidenote you never answered my question. Didn't Tino have a 44 HR year during the glory days?</p><p>EDIT:
ALso, Sheff doesn't get as much flack because he wasn't brought in with
a 10 year, $250 million dollar pricetag. I agree with you that many of
the Yanks under-performed just as much, and if not more, than A-rod
last postseason. But we've seen Yankee greats get it done in October
when it counted, and we want A-Rod to be that next great. </p><p><br />

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=citadel-2_382344_309&prov=citadel&type=lgns">Yanks interested in acquiring Pat Burrell and Billy Wagner?</a></p>
<p> </p><font face="Verdana" style="font-size: 9px;">quote:</font>Reports are surfacing that the Yankees are interested in closer <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5536/">Billy Wagner</a>
and left fielder <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6375/">Pat Burrell</a>
. The Phillies would benefit tremendously if they could find a way to
move these two players. New York is the obvious trade partner because
it is well known that George Steinbrenner signs paychecks and luxury
tax payments like he was using Monopoly money. Wagner is due to be a
free agent at the end of this season and trading him to an American
League franchise would alleviate the chances of him coming back to
haunt the Phillies later this season and possibly even in the future.
Burrell has been wildly inconsistent during his career. Yet his power
and the short porch Yankee Stadium has to offer might intrigue the
Yankees. <p> </p>
<p>
The question is whom would the Phillies be able to acquire in return
for these two veterans? It is conceivable that the Yankees would
jettison <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/4268/">Gary Sheffield</a>
who is in a contract year to Philadelphia in return for this package.
However, due to the stature of Billy Wagner as a closer and the
potential Burrell provides, some long term help would need to be
included in this deal. That is where Caonabo Cosme comes into the
picture. Cosme is currently playing for the Yanks' AAA club, the
Columbus Clippers and batting .261 with 4 home runs and 13 RBI. Cosme's
track to the majors is currently blocked by the likes of <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5275/">Alex Rodriguez</a>
and <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5406/">Derek Jeter</a>
. If the Phillies acquired Cosme rights, he could step in for <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5343/">David Bell</a>
a year or two down the line and become the third baseman of the future,
barring a major free agent signing during the off-season. </p>
<p>
The addition of Sheffield would add some pop to this lineup for the
remainder of the 2005 season and would clear Burrell's hefty long term
contract off of the books, and at the same time providing a contract
that expires at the end of the year. The trade with the Yankees would
fill two of the Phillies biggest needs; offensive firepower, and long
term salary relief. The money saved on Burrell's contract could be
spent to purchase a legitimate center fielder, and possibly even a top
of the rotation type of pitcher.</p><p> </p>
<p><font color="Navy"><font size="2">I don't know what to think of this one. I don't
even now whether to trust it, seeing as this guy doesn't even know that Sheffield isn't in a contract year, that he has a year
remaining after this season. Frankly, if this is true, I can't see the
Yankes pulling this off without including Cano or Wang, and I wouldn't
be willing to do that, even for both Burrell and

trade Wags for some AAA garbage. </p>

As much as I don't want it to be the case, Wang and/or Cano are trade bait. Instead of keeping them to build many years into the future at a low cost, The Boss is gonna get rid of one of them so we can get Clemens for half-a-season. I don't want it to happen, but I can smell it a mile away.

I thought about that... but when you look at a picture like that, it looks like it's in favor of Pavano. Like, he's pitching the ball... so it looks like he's "owning" the batter. Then I tried to look for a picture of him that time he got hit in the head, but I couldn't find it... So I gave up.

<p>First off, calm down on this Wang thing. He hasn't even come close to seeing teams for a second time with his 5, count them, 5 fucking starts. He has two wins against the lowly Mariners and one against Detroit. Ooooooo, he must be the second coming of Clemens. In fact, let's see how he does against the Mets and Sox since that's how you judge a true Yankee right? Hell, I could manage a few wins with the Yankee bats behind me against those teams. </p><p>Cano is batting only .250 right now with that all-star lineup with still only 80 ABs. This is the Yankee MO, use the press and convince the fan base and the rest of the league of how good these kids are (create the hype), then they trade them away getting way too much for them. <p>Remind me how that playoff year ended up? </p><p>Oh yah, probably the most embarrassing and worst falling out in the history of sports. EVER! Looks like money can't buy em all. 17-1 is a priceless loss to your biggest rival! I can't wait until they have to play a few more good teams. Boston is the first team the Spanks have played in about of month with a winning record! The only other team around 500 was the fucking Mets. You lost the series to the Blue Jays at the turn of the month, then managed to beat the likes of Tampa Bay, Oakland, Seatle, Oakland, Seatle again, NY Mets (should have lost all three here if it wasn't for the idiotic Met plays), Detroit and finally the Red Sox (series tied at 1-1). </p><p>Yet against good teams in April, the yankees lost every three game series but the first one versus Boston. They lost to Baltimore, Texas, LA Angels, Boston and even split a two game series with TB. Sorry but I think I'll rate the Spanks against the likes of those teams versus those of May. Oh yah, I bet your boys can't wait for the upcoming 2 week road trip. Let's see how you fare against the Twins and Cardinals.</p><p>"gave up on the Yankees in April" <--- Seems you jumped back on the bandwagon?</p>

But back to legitimate points of argument...
I don't know where you've been the last 2 weeks, but the "Yankees just beating up on shitty teams" theory when down the shitter when the Red Sox got PWN3D by Seattle, Oakland, and your lowly Blue Jays, who, rest assured, will finish only above Tampa Bay, as usual.<br>Every good team gets blown out every season. It's 162-game season. There's always gonna be some embarassing losses.<br>
And yeah, everyone knows how last season ended for the Yankees, but 3 outs away from the World Series is better than playing golf.

I don't know where you've been the last 2 weeks, but the "Yankees just beating up on shitty teams" theory when down the shitter when the Red Sox got PWN3D by Seattle, Oakland, and your lowly Blue Jays, who, rest assured, will finish only above Tampa Bay, as usual.<br />Every good team gets blown out every season. It's 162-game season. There's always gonna be some embarassing losses.<br />And yeah, everyone knows how last season ended for the Yankees, but 3 outs away from the World Series is better than playing golf. <img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=ChickenHawk" border="0" /><br />HORDE KING FOREVER!!! There is a reason your quote says what it does. Fair weather fan. Your just a bitch.</font></p><p><font color="#000000">2) "Back to legitimate points of argument".....bc my theory is anything but down the shitter! Red Sox fans at least admit that they should walk on those shitty teams. In fact, thankfully they had the Yanks on the schedule next in order to get them back into it with a comedic 17-1 win. </font></p><p><font color="#000000">3) Spare me your idiotic diatribe with the "rest assured" talk. The Blue Jays owned the AL East before the onset of the "free agent" era. Why do you think George fights so hard against a salary cap? With a cap, the Yankees would be right back into the Kevin Maas years since their system blows. Think about it, the Yankees win the series way to infrequently when you analyze the players they take from their competitors. Most of the time it's the team's best player (at the time of the transaction) they take as well. Here's a few recent examples: Rodriguez (MLB's best player for years), Sheffield (Atlanta's best position player), Giambi (Oakland's best player), Kevin Brown (LA's best player), Pavano (Florida's best pitcher last year), Johnson (Arizona's best), Mussina (O's best pitcher)......on and on and on. That doesn't even count the fact that they got Matsui (Japan's best player), Soriano and Wang (Taiwan's best pitcher) with huge contracts which the other teams couldn't match. Hell, Wang got MLB starter money to play in the minors for years. How can small market team's even try to compete. I can respect Atlanta's success more, based on the path used, even though they can't finish the deal either. </font></p><p><font color="#000000">4) You aren't a Yankee player. Stop projecting like yourself as one bc I'm a "lowly Jays fan". It would indeed take a lot of things to go right for the Jays to beat out 3 top payroll teams in one division. So spare me your predictions Nostradamus. Please, please come to the softball game so we can go toe to toe in a sport. Or perhaps you'd like to come golf with Snoogans and I. Best of all, come line up against me in a hockey game. I'd surely rather play golf as opposed to losing the way the spanks did last year. So get YOUR dink out of your hand YANKee fan.</font></p></font>

Other than my mod quote, what are you basing your "fair weather fan" judgement on? You have no idea. None. I've been a fan since 1989, when I was 5. <I>You</I> remember, around the last time the Blue Jays were a competitive team? With the exception of 5 or 6 games, I have watched at least a solid portion of most games this season thus far. I've watched at least 35 of the games from start to finish, including yesterday's 17-1 loss and all those shitty games in April. I don't know why I am sitting here trying to prove myself to you, cuz it's a futile effort, but I'll say once again, you have NO basis of judgement to call me a "fair weather fan" cuz you have no idea how serious I am about the Yankees. If you want to continue believing I'm a "fair weather" or "bandwagon" fan, that's your call... You can believe folklore and fantasy if you wish. Afterall, you think the Blue Jays have a chance at making the playoffs.

The thing with Randy Johnson is, when Randy Johnson doesn't pitch well, he gives up 3 or 4 runs over 7 innings. When anyone else doesn't pitch well, they give up 7 runs over 2 innings. So I mean, he's clearly being held to a higher standard, WITH GOOD REASON. I mean, he came here to dominate, and he's getting a fat paycheck, so he's gonna be under the microscope, but still... I think people are making like he's pitching a lot worse than he actually is.

The problem has always been a one-way street. You've expressed your dislike for me in the past. But I never returned it, cuz I've had no reason to. I don't get into message board arguments and name-calling. It's not my style. Find a thread where I rip someone apart personally... You won't be able to. I'm here to have fun and yeah, I'll welcome some HORSEPLAY and TOMFOOLERY. I know the politics and sports forums can get a little rowdy, but there's a difference between "YOUR TEAM CAN SUCK IIITT!" and "You're a convictionless bitch, go away." I'm not on this board to tear people up. I'm here cuz it's a hobby and fun way to kill time. I'm always willing to bury the hatchet, but either way, I'm done arguing in this thread. It's pretty fuckin' lame.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... If you can't sense the scarcasm/frustration in an "Off-Season Moves" thread in May, then the problem isn't me. I'm not HIDING behind that as an excuse. I made that thread to make a statement. Yankee fans around the world were hitting the panic button, and that's a fact. So I started a thread that was a bit on the extreme side, but was by no means meant to be taken seriously.
<IMG SRC="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=ChickenHawk"><br>HORDE KING FOREVER!!! ORACLE NEVER!!!<br><strike>Shock</strike><br><marquee behavior=alternate><font size=2><b>EMFA</b></font></marquee>[color=white]

<p>man, it wasnt the thread, i got the joke of the off season moves
thread, that was actually relatively amusing. but just your whole
attitude about things, you'll say shit, and i dont mean just in here,
and then it makes you look stupid, oh its sarcasm. alot of times i get
the feeling you are just covering your ass. </p><p> </p><p>aside
from that, that doesnt matter. what matters is, regardless of how they
have started, we have been arguing since i came to this board. i NEVER
got along with you, and then you act suprised that im a dick when i
respond to things you say to me.</p><p> </p><p>now tonight was
slightly different, if you bothered to pay any attention. Me and spoon
spent the whole time ripping on you, the yankees, and him and HBox goin
at it. Its all ball bustin and shit. and as i post this, spoon is on
WFAN right now talkin about the Blue Jays, man that sounds weird to
hear him on the air. anyway relax hawk. do i like you, no, and i wont,
but you read way too much into this. i mean shit you looked ready to
cry a couple times its not that serious, and obviously, you must never
have read most of my posts toward other people. i mean shit, i do that
to people i like. take wadd as an example, he gets it. i say some of
the nastisest shit to him, he does me, we have fun with it, but when he
actually needed a reference, and i knew it, i posted. cause its not
really a big deal</p><p> </p>

I predict victory tonight for the Yanks over the Royals which will begin a ten-game win streak. Furthermore, Johnny Damon will go down in the Red Sox game with injury related to gayness. <img src="http://www.richstillwell.com/ESD.gif" border="0" /> <em><font color="#ff0000">Big Ass Mafia</font></em> <font color="#000080"><em>Click</em> <a href="http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/thenight/ppr/index.shtml" target="blank">this link </a><em>to hear my show on 90.5 The Night FM; Friday and Saturday Night: Midnight to 5 AM you bastards!</em></font>

Is it me or does it seem like after every Red
Sox-Yankee series, both teams lay an egg the next series? I expected
the Sox to take 3 of 4 from the birds, they barely split. And what's
going on in Kansas City is the equivalent of a 3 year old ass raping a

hitting (They rely too much on HR's) or pitching to go anywhere.</p><p>We needed RJ to be dominant to be in good shape. I've yet to see last years RJ. </p><p>Its not our year. </p>

When Wang gives up 3 runs over 7 innings, and then we leave the bases loaded, you can't possibly blame the pitching. The Yankees are simply incapable of hitting the ball anymore.

I agree, but the mind of a fan of a losing team is different from the mind of a fan of a winning team. When your team sucks shit, you'll take what you can get. And right now, the Yankees suck shit.

<p>Chickenhawk you answered your own question:</p><p>The yankees were a mediocre team last year that over acheived to get to the ALCS. The reason is 61 come from behind victories if you count on even half of that every year it is ludicrous. Everyone was simply overjoyed that an old team from last year added some more old guys to a already "championship" quality team. But no one wanted to be honest with what the yankees were and that is old. They remind me alot of the 98 orioles who locked into long term deals with guys based on past performance and traded away youth for a shot at the ring. Honestly - Bernie Williams old, Derek Jeter getting there, Mariano Rivera old, Randy Johnson and Kevin Brown both old when they traded for them. And then Yankees fans who pride themselves on history go and boo Carl Pavano at his first start in Yankee Stadium which is always good for the fragile ego (see Rogers, Kenny).</p><p>Open your eyes and take an honest look the yankees may be in for a couple of years of losing.</p><p>And being proud of taking 1 of 3 from the twins is loser talk - stuff you would expect to hear in Milwaukee or Seattle.</p><p>Oh yeah and aren't the Orioles still in first place?</p>

Another challange coming up. Doug Davis has looked very sharp this year. He does walk a lot of people from time to time though, so if we can be patient at the plate I think we stand a good chance of staying close in the late innings and scratching out a close one.

outpitched Matt Clement and left to a standing O.<br />

Nothing would make Jaret Wright succeed in NY.
Might as well get your hits in while you can and hopefully push him
out. And if you thought it was bad before, if he returns and starts and
forces Wang into the bullpen or back to the minors, he will reach Kevin
Brown hatred levels.<br />

Actually I think the best scenario is Wright coming back and pitching decent so there no slot for Clemens. We already have 5 starters plus wright. Actually the REALLY REALLY best scenario is paying off Giambis contract and sending him over there with Womack for Rog, if we even want him

<p>On what planet do you think that the Giambi & Womack trade would ever happen for Roger Clemens unless the Yankees have Superman to reverse the spin of the Earth to go back and time and make that trade oh like 4 years ago.</p><p>Better yet why would the Astros want Giambi. I don't think there is a team in the majors who would pay any of Giambis contract - The Yankees are stuck with him for the next 4 years and 80 million. Even if the yankees picked up his entire salary you wouldn't get an old catchers mask for that guy. Your post is so beyond stupid it makes me angry.</p><p>Also i heard the Orioles were trading Sal Fasano and Steve Kline for Johan Santana and Joe Nathan.</p><p>Wadd your opinion on sports after that post are no longer wanted or needed. I knew you were a sports moron after the 2002 Fantasy Football season and you went a stunning 0-13. Get a clue then come back</p>

<p>I think we can be civil about this.</p><p>First off I beat Flavorsavor at the end of that season and i wasnt around for the draft. </p><p>Secondly, I DID say we would pay off Giambis contract and the Astros most def would take him and lose nothing more then a few months of starts in a shit meaningless year in exchange for 4 years of possibly a great player, for free.</p><p>You opiions on my opinions are no longer needed.</p>
