Big Candles. Cool or Total Shit?

EVERY TIME I get a big candle as a gift or we have one around the house, it always dies WAY too early. I have NEVER burned a large scented candle down to the bottom. The wick ALWAYS does something, and the candle is a big fucking lump of useless wax. This is why when I get one for myself, I get a medium to small size.

Anyone?

my daughter got a candle the size of a gallon paint can for x-mas.

i was using it in the basement and left it for about 5 hours. it turns out the sidewall of the candle cracked open and 3/4 of the wax spilled out onto the plate it was sitiing on, then onto the table, then onto a stepladder underneath the table and onto the floor.

it was a decent mess to clean up

Before you light said large candle, trim the wick to about 1/4". An oversized wick will suck the life out of a good candle.
I personally, only use Yankee Candles. (the ones in the mason jars) Smell great and burn for a freakin' month!

I have not. But I'm not that interested because of the fact that you always find a bag of the stuff sitting in someone's closet after awhile, devoid of any smell. Or like a sachet in someone woman's dresser drawer. That shit loses it's scent too quickly for my liking.

I got an oil burner for my birthday like I said, and it gives off a pleasant scent, a little more intense than a candle depending how much oil you add to the water, and no smoke.

I've run through dozens of tea light candles already. They only last for like 4 hours. GAY!!

i tried these Glade scented oil plug-ins... they even provide some light and the odor was good

but last week i put a refill into a plug-in where the bulb burnt out and it doesn't seem to provide as much scent

i think they take heat from the socket electricity but maybe it's the heat from the bulb?

"Our Strongest" is in reference to the size of the candle. The Housewarmer line is the strongest scented of any of the Yankee Candle line. No matter which scent you choose, if you get the Housewarmer, it's the strongest version of it.

Me being a Baker, I should add a recipe.

Homemade Truffles
1 pint cream
1 pound semi sweet chocolate (chips or coarsely chopped)
1 tbs vanilla

1)Heat cream till boiling
2)Add Chocolate and vanilla and take off heat
3)Stir till Chocolate is completely melted, let cool

To serve, scoop into balls and cover with Nuts, Coconut, Cocoa or Chocolate Icing

Simple and perfect

The problem with big candles is they aren't meant to be burned for long periods of time, so the wick doesn't burn right. You need to trim the wick and never burn for more than 30-45 minutes.

I stopped by Yankee Candle tonight for a few votives. For years, I only lit unscented candles, but someone got me into the Yankee Candles a few years ago and now they're the only ones I burn.

i think scented yankee candles are a great gift to give and receive...and if you arent a fan of them you can re-gift it to someone that you know will appreciate it

its a non offensive gift...unless the scent is really annoying and tends to give migrains
