as for their show, i think it is going great so far. but it does seem like XM puts a lot of rules and corporate BS into the mix.
if anyone has any O&A questions, talk to reefy, he knows a lot.

I know it's like comparing apples to oranges, but how are O&A's ratings compared to Howards lately?
It is obvious that O&A blow Howard out of the water now. It's not even a contest anymore but do the ratings reflect this? I see Howard in a downward spiral and NEVER catching up by the time he gets to Sirius.
He's DONE!!!!!!!

O&A have mentioned they are 20% higher in listenership than the company had expected.
I would say they are still below 500k in subscribers to their channel.
XM has 3.1 million subscribers, even if 15-20% subscribed to O&A, thats the 500k number I am thinking above. Hell, even if 1/2 subscribed they are STILL ONLY at 1.5 million. I highly doubt the numbers are anywhere near the 50% range. But hey, if they are, good for O&A and XM. it is a very good show, very different from anything on the radio due to their nature and the nature of sat. radio. There is no comparison. Its like trying to compare watching an R rated or even porn movie on HBO or NBC.
I believe howard has 12 million daily listeners. I could be wrong because I do not know to much about him or his ratings. I rarely, if ever, listen.

I sent an e-mail to XMradio the other day:
-----Original Message-----
> Email Address: djeveled@aol.com
> Message Body: I keep getting timed out after a couple of hours on XM online. I constantly have to get up and go to the computer to reset the "keep listening" button. This is an unfortunate situation because I can't "set it and forget it" and relax after I get home.
> How can I keep the stream active without sitting in front of my computer for the entire show?
>
> Thank you in advance!
So I get an e-mail back:
Dear Edward,
Thank you for contacting XM Radio Online.
Your concern in this matter is understandable. The "Session Timeout" is a feature of the XM Online Player that logs you out after a period of inactivity, usually every 60 minutes. The 60 minute timeframe for the session time-out is a default setting of the XM Online Player. To avoid the session from timing out, you may keep the XM Online player in the foreground on your desktop and occasionally press a key on the keyboard or click the mouse to reset the timer. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please send us another email to lccstreaming@xmradio.com.
Please continue to visit listen.xmradio.com for updates and information about XM Radio Online.
Thank you, again, for contacting XM Satellite Radio.
Sincerely,
Heidi Vahtola

So I write back:
Ok so I guess my question would still be:
> > How can I keep the stream active without sitting in front of my
> computer for the entire show?
>
> Is there something I can do on MY end to set my computer up differently?
>
> Thank you again.
> Your service is otherwise FANTASTIC!!!

They almost didn't make it to air today because of technical problems, then they complained about technical problems from the LA shows and absolutely SAVAGED their "booker" who wasn't able to get them one guest while in LA. Then the phones didn't work at all, and they started talking openly about wanting to negotiate with other companies and discussing if they could get out of their contract. They also mentioned at some point how certain people or companies were "walking all over XM."
It wasn't pretty, and it took the whole first hour.

I have a slow work connection, so I wonder how much of my bandwidth it is goign to use.
I also wonder if they will be offering steeper discounts for long term subs. And I wonder now with 3 million people subscribing for 10 bucks a month, how many will drop.
also, this is now level with Sirius, so it really is coming down to content more and more.

If they and Stern were both on Sirius, that would be awesome. I'm sure their bitching was just their normal contract negotiation technique. Although being in LA and getting no guests is lame, and does not reflect well on their national recognition. In LA they might as well be Ernie and Chip from Wisconsin.

I'm getting interested in this topic and notice the information on wackbag and ron fez.net is a bit different and want to share whatever speculation information we can with both boards.
O&A are coming off the premium tier on 4/2 and will be exposed to all 3.2 million XM subscribers. They have said they are going to be adding new shows to their channel.
Of course everyone knows Opie saying "getting the band back together" and Ron said "your mom's box". I don't think it is a hoax because both shows are mentioning it. Today Opie mentioned they are on the full platform and adding shows to "High Voltage," and that they have say on what they add to the channel.
Anthony pushed Opie "don't you want to make an announcement" and Opie said "We're just getting the band back together" and Anthony or Norton did the Pacino "who......haaaa" and there was silence and they went on with their show.
I've heard R+F contract is up in June...is that true? I only listen to R+F occasionally now because of obvious reasons, but can someone confirm or deny that?
By the way, you can order an XM MyFI, the best satelite radio system that you can use at home, in car and on your person can be found at least a little cheaper below ($280 vs $350 everywhere else.) It is expensive, but can record 5 hours of music (a little more of talk because it takes up less hard drive space within it). I record a few hours of music and a few hours of O&A every morning and take it on the train to work. Very cool - reality negatives - XM music selection is not great, reception is not good indoors, but good outdoors in metro areas, (NYC good, Long Island no good because more "repeaters" for the signal in metros) and you can't "save" certain songs or bits because of copyright stuff...whatever it oldest is recorded over.

I think 7 to 11 is good for the show, it will expose more west coast listeners to the program. It does suck that I won't have anything to listen to when I wake up but that's okay. I did fine without the show before in the morning. I still get to hear it during my drive in so I'm fine with it.

<p>Yeah, these two weeks are really not for the everyday listener, it's more for the someone who just bought in to catch up on all the running jokes, etc. Can't wait till Monday.</p><p>But in the meantime, I've come to realize something...did you know that there are over there are over 150 digital channels of music, talk, sports, and comedy? Before this week the last time I changed the channel was to find my unit's ID# to order service.</p>

<p>Opie & Norton had a meltdown. Apparently Norton asked Op during a break when they would be getting Yoshi & another guest into the studio. Opie came back with a answer like, "yeah we'll get them in but I'm getting a little overloaded with the porn stuff again," and Norton lost his mind.</p><p>Apparently much of the venom stemmed from last week's show where Jim's opener from the AC show came in (drove up from AC just to do the show) & Op made him wait & wait & wait...then got him in for 10 uncomfortable minutes (the guy was a little nervous & it showed), then bumped him to the lesbian couch for Chris Jericho...then didn't mention him even being there as he was doing the 'thank you's at the end of the show.</p><p>I had to get out of the car for a while as it was winding down, so I missed some of it, but the first 20 minutes or so just helped to prove what I've always thought, Opie is just a dick. He was playing the bitch part in the argument, being a passive-aggressive prick, and went almost directly into the "whatever, dude, whatever" mode. He was right about some of the stuff he was arguing, but he did so in such a dick-fashion, you still wanted Norton to punch his lights out.</p><p>I can't wait to catch the replay & hear the entire thing.</p>

<p>Crippler summed it up just as I have read it on other boards. </p><p>I wonder if they are going to try and spin this as a bit, when obviously it was not. Maybe they will try and pretend they were doing a parody on the channel 7 news guys in the morning. Or just doing it to make the message boards buzz. </p><p>I really think Opie gets jelous that so many people geniunly like Norton. I think he has heard shit his whole career about how funny and awesome Ant is (and rightfully so because Ant is awesome). But I think at XM, norton has a very loyal following. Norton also does not have as much pressure from corporate as Opie does. Opie does a lot of the back end work, phone calls and whatever. I think he does a lot of stuff that goes unnoticed by listeners, and maybe even unappreciated by other members of the staff. </p><p>This tension must have been building up, it will be interesting to see how it plays out</p>

I don't know. Sounded like it may have been a bit to me. Zelig was being really adamant and getting in Ope's face about Opie not saying goodbye to another comic? Why, just a few days before his west coast trip, would Norton fly off the handle like that about something so trivial?<br />They were flinging some pretty big shit though.<br />Ant was awful quiet.<br />Ah, who knows?

<p>I think there were other issues we weren't privy to, but Opie and
Norton had it out about a couple issues over the course of an
hour. Opie is the show runner, so most of the pressure for the
show is on him all the time. In this case, Norton disagreed with
the way Op was doing some things and they just blew up at each other on
air, with Ant just sitting there and staying out of it.</p><p> </p><p>And then Jay Mohr got naked...<br />

<p>I still haven't heard the entire bit, but I heard a good portion of it. My thoughts are this...</p><p>Although Norton adds a ton of stuff to O&A, he has to realize that it's still O&A's show, Opie is the Alpha, and he runs the show. Norton going off like this today is akin to Orson Welles' voiceover sessions.</p><p>Chris Jericho is not only a WWE wrestler, but he is an XM personality trying to promote his own show. Hence why I have ZERO problem having some unknown comedian bumped to for Jericho, who was infinitely more entertaining when he did his spot the other day.</p><p>Norton is also pissed about XM's promotion of the show - and you don't think O&A are!? God, that's just a fucked up move.</p>

<p>Norton is also pissed about XM's promotion of the show - and you don't think O&A are!? God, that's just a fucked up move.</p><p>The only reason I would even think for a minute that this argument wasn't genuine is because Opie was half-heartedly arguing that he wasn't upset about that anymore. Some of the stuff that was coming out of his mouth was absurd & there's no way he believes it, which is why he was arguing like a bitch...he was back-tracking on subjects that he's complained about as recently as last week, just to try to "win" the argument with Jim. His whole angle about "getting rid of the negativity" in his life made me want to beat him with a bat.</p><p>The only other thing I can imagine is that there's someone at XM who's tired of hearing Jim bitch & Op was trying to veer him away from the bitching by taking one for the team & making himself the target of Jimmy's wrath. Even that doesn't really make sense, though, because they've said in the past that they love when Jim speaks up in meetings because it allows them the opportunity to be cowards & Jim to be the bad guy.</p><p>Bottom line (in my opinion) is, it sounded like Op was an ass because, basically, he is. Jimmy hurt his wittle feewings by daring to question the manner in which he treats/utilizes guests & Op lost his mind & used ridiculous examples to try to defend himself. I'm sure it'll blow over behind the scenes during the weekend & we'll never hear about it again.</p>

I didn't want to leave my truck when I got to work, but I heard the rest of it on my lunch hour. </p><p>Clearly there's a rift between Norton and Opie that's been brewing for months and it finally came to light. It's one of the few shows I've missed since they came back...or at least missed the ending, where it got real interesting, and then they swapped out the segment for a "Worst of..." before the replay, when I would normally her the end of the show at lunch. I didn't do the digging, but from what I've heard & read, apparently they had some women in the studio who were real sports & they got them involved with an intern (or interns, not sure).

<p>To clarify: I don't think it was an intern who got drunk off the jaeger machine...</p><p>I think the problem with the "Show that Never Happened" is that the intern was getting sexual favors from an intoxicated girl who may have been under 21 (I'm not sure about that part). </p><p>Since the girl was intoxicated and noticably so, she couldn't give her full consent to have sex. This can be construed by the LAW as rape and/or sexual battery. Since there was a recorded record of it and O&A has had issues like this in the past, the show became non-existant.</p><p>Since the girl also may have been under 21, that's another can of worms, but not as serious as the potential for rape/sexual abuse allegations.</p><p> </p>

<p><font color="#6600cc">It seems really unlikely - if not unfathomable - to me that XM's powers-that-be would make that call alone. If Opie doesn't want something replayed for fear of looking shown-up or stupid on his own show, that fine. But you don't get to do that and then constantly bitch about how fake everybody else is and how you're the real deal.</font></p><p><font color="#6600cc">I've already posted words to this effect on Whackbag. And said even worst to Norton on IM (not that he gives a shit about me or my opinion). The last thing I wanna do is burn any bridges with O&A. They, and even Norton, can play a big part in helping out any aspiring stand-up. And I (along with friends) hope to one day become regular contributers. Plus I legitimately love the show. But all that said, one thing that always makes me see red is censorship, even when it's self imposed. I hate it with a fucking passion I can't possibly convey here.</font></p><p><font color="#6600cc">If they go back in studio on Monday without replaying that chunk, they're no better than all the hacks and psuedo-shockjocks they break on every day, And that's keeping it real.</font></p>

<p>I read about this before I
listened to it. So when it got to the point where they called Ben in
studio, I started laughing my ass off. I'm sure that was the last thing
Ben wanted to hear. And he got back out FAST.</p><p>While I think
Norton started this whole thing over something really stupid (Who cares
if they didn't say goodbye to Sean Rouse on air. I remember that show,
they were rushing to play Chris Jericho's song before they went off,

O&A have some of the most
bitchy, ungrateful fans I have ever seen. I can't believe how many
people blamed O&A right away for the fight being pulled from
replays. This has happened before, and it wasn't O&A who pulled the
replay last time. Complaining about bits you don't like are one thing;
completely turning on them without a shred of evidence is another. I
was on the road during the replay when they pulled the fight and not
once did I think that any of them pulled it. I just had a chuckle and
assumed XM didn't want to air something like that, especially since
management was dragged in. I didn't have a massive period like some
other people on some other boards.<br />

XM management has proven in the past that they have no clue when it comes to O&A. Remember that according to O&A, the two week worst of debacle was Washignton's call. The fact that managment names were mentioned in the arguement is probably why the clueless tools in Washington pulled the segment with Opie & Norton going at it, but played the rest of the show, which had a bunch of references to the fight, which made the whole replay sound just retarded.

<p>Smart move on XM management's end, IMHO. That conversation was WAY too inside...if I was a suit I wouldn't want people to know all that information either. It's really no suprise to me they took it off the air.</p><p>As for the morality of the decision, of course its wrong...but sometimes you have to look out for your company at the expense of free speech. It's not right, but its the way it is. </p><p>The general public shouldn't know how bad things are on the O&A Show. I always thought it was a bad idea for O&A to discuss the behind the scenes as much as they do. I come from the school of "let em never see you sweat" when it comes to business. </p><p>Besides, whining and bitching about management is easy...and eventually gets boring...just focus on the show and making it awesome. It's already been proven that bitching about it on the air, no matter the size of your audience, does little to rectify the problem. </p><p>I'll be posting the audio on foundry as soon as I get permission. Thanks to Tenbats for providing me with it.</p>

<p><font color="#660099">Well, I just listened to the whole thing. Surprised to see Opie get so personal in his attack. He'd be on vacation for doing that here. </font></p><p><font color="#660099">Still, up until the very end, where he started playing the victim, I actually thought Opie came across as in the right. The way it was described to me was that Norton kicked his ass; that was definitely not the case and he (Opie) would have no real incentive to bury that chunk (you know, other than his new found need to keep things happy, happy, joy, joy - ugh).</font></p><p><font color="#660099">However, even though I now think it probably was Washington that pulled the plug, I really hope they (the show) are fucking livid about it come Monday morning. The shit that was said was in no way inside enough to warrant censorship. Nothing was discussed that hasn't been discussed before, and that was a real pussy move on the suit's part. Yes, I know it's a business, but c'mon... the burden for censoring content should be much higher than this.</font></p><p><font color="#660099">Jay Mohr did a good job of getting the show back on track. Which can be found a OAvirus.com or <a href="http://opackvirus.com/5/oa_wbab_1st_show.mp3" target="_blank">by right clicking and saving here</a>)</p><p>I'm guessing they just didn't want to hear bitching from callers if they announced this first thing in the morning.</p>

<p>No, it's funny when O&A&N do it, and it's not funny on the photoshops (a few exceptions) Some callers who try to be funny with racist comments take it too far as well.</p><p>most though are attempts at humor. not everyone can be as funny as Anthony and Norton, so they come out as bad jokes or taking it to far. but my bigger problem is if you read this thread you would think thats all thats on the site...and its not even close. i'm pretty sure if you put a % on the actual amount of posts with racist talk it isn't probably even 1% or close to it. in fact Jews probably take the biggest beating because of Stern...and again its attempts at humor or just hatred towards him.</p>

<p>Yeah, I've tried to make it clear that I'm only talking about the Photoshop section and that I've only noticed this during the past few days.</p><p>Again, I have no idea what they are talking about in the General Section.</p><p>The only reason I check out the photoshops is because they end up being talked about on the actual show. They specifically bring up certain images (Norton loved that "I trusted you, you Fat Fuck" image during the Don and Mike Dog thing.)</p><a href="http://www.xmradio.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://members.cox.net/nicksporsche/StarGuy.jpg" border="0" /></a>

<p>Why I don't like Wackbag.</p><p>I was banned from Wackbag for a week because I had the gall to call Pat from Moonachie unfunny. Now, this is a board that prides itself on shit-talk, but apparently calling someone a "nine-toed sloth" is unacceptable. (read between the lines: Sting is such a suck-up that people who get on the show get special treatment)</p><p>I took my ban and went back there, only because I enjoyed the posts by some people who didn't post on other boards, namely Bach, Boogaloo, etc.</p><p>I stopped going to Wackbag VOLUNTARILY because it was getting too stupid for me, and I enjoyed posting at postwhores better.</p><p>Then, about two months ago, Sting started accusing me of hacking and spoofing wackbag simply because I was a contributor to a site that bashed Wackbag. Mind you; I didn't write any pieces bashing wackbag - I was just a writer on the site.</p><p>Sting then threatened to get personal aspects of my life involved because he was convinced I hacked Wackbag. Mind you - I didn't. He was screaming how he had undeniable proof tyring me to the hack job - he didn't. All he had were articles that were written on OAU... and that's not proof, especially since I didn't write them.</p><img src="http://img227.echo.cx/img227/2240/ollie11po.jpg" border="0" />

<p>Howard is getting weird with the things he says</p><p>I think it's more like, Howard is getting brazen with the things he says. He figures he's earned enough respect to get away with some hyperbole on occasion. And other times he can say things that are down right non-factual & rest easy knowing that half his audience doesn't know enough to know he's bullshitting them & a good portion of the other half will make excuses for him. </p><p>And I don't say that to attack, it's just my opinion as a long time fan who sees through his crap.</p><p>One thing about Sirius that I must admit, however, there's a good reason why their Rock channels win head-to-head comparisons with XM. On a recent trip to DC with my cousin, we were in his car, complete with his Sirius Sportster. The entire trip I drove & didn't listen to a single bad song between the 6 or so Rock channels. I absolutely cannot say that for any significant stretch of time with the XM Rock channels.</p><p>But then again, I didn't buy satellite radio for music...it's a nice fallback & XM has enough to keep me happy, but I have it for sports & talk and XM wins that battle hands down.</p>

The first this I thought when I read the news about Freda was that this reminded me of what happened to Opie's father. I'm certain that Opie will have the same compassion that Ant and Norton have. I wouldn't be surprised if they even ripped some of the pests apart over some of what they said and did on the board. If anything, my guess is that they will be at their finest today with regards to this story.</p>

<p>Just a quick comment about that Monster's picture. To be fair, how many of your would have checked out Ron and Fez if all you ever saw was that old pic with Ron wearing that bandana and FEz in his boxers giving a kiss to the camera? Radio guys aren't supposed to look like anything. They're voices.</p><p>But my opinion is these guys look like they get a big gay train going every morning and just open mics up, grinding into the back of each other. Fags. It's not fair to condemn a show I've never heard, but I freely admit that I just did. Blech. They'll make Leykis look appealing. Guy with not shirt's gotta be shot.</p>

(Not that they won't eventually have 5 shows, but the "We're the gods of XM" attitude they were displaying was just part of the show. It's a comedy show)</font></p><p> <a href="http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=202"><img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=skw" border="0" /></a></p>

<p>Maybe you are right, but the GOD'S of satellite radio, was most definitly brushing me the wrong way.</p><p>Take the low road on this one!</p><p>"We are just doing our part to help the real talent, and boost our station."</p><p> </p><p>Although, the FUCKO'S list was quite funny!!</p><p>And how are The Monsters on the bubble? They suck balls!!</p>

<p>Frankly, I love what they did to rescue R&F, but now it is going to their heads. Now they think that they are the Jesus'of radio, bringing "talent" to 202!</p><p></p><p>Lighten up. They kid around. The show is juvenile that's the way it is, the way it has been and always will be. </p>

<p>My thoughts are this:</p><p>Ferrall is NOT coming to 202. O&A have been talking about him less and less, and I have a feeling that he IS coming to XM, but as part of Fox Sports Radio. </p><p>Opie dropped a huge radio clue this morning that made me raise an eyebrow a little bit. He referred to a "he" that they were trying to get out of a contract.</p><p>Ferrall isn't under contract - otherwise he wouldn't be doing those Fox Sports gigs. </p><p>They've already mentioned BJ Shea and Wease by name, so it's not them.</p><p>My guess? I think Op's talking about Jim Breuer.</p><p> </p>

Not that I wouldn't love to see it, but didn't Op refer to Breuer among the "dead to us" the last time they were talking to Jay Mohr about how he came back to the show & they could tell how he had been listening all along?
