Is there anyway they do this right?
Mike Curry sent word that WWE is moving ahead with its planned main event stipulations for February's No Way Out PPV as local radio stations in Pittsburgh, PA are now airing commercials promoting "the first ever barbed wire cage match for the WWE championship." No participants for the match are named, although the match is expected to feature WWE champion John Bradshaw Layfield vs. The Big Show. The show is scheduled for the Mellon Arena.
As noted previously on PWInsider.com, the planned location for the barbed wire match is interesting as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission banned the use of several weapons during professional wrestling events, including barbed wire and fluorescent light tubes in November 2002. The edict took place as a way to tone down the independent wrestling promotions running in PA, most notably Combat Zone Wrestling and XPW (which later closed up in 2003). CZW still runs Pennsylvania, although their crowds have mostly dropped since the ban was put into place.
