It seems likely that Ron & Fez will be back on the air in New York some time this year. One theory is that R&F will replace Stern, but I kind of doubt that. Any guesses as to when they might be back?

Don't forget they did replace O+A . . . for one whole day.
Then Lickass showed up, and I knew it was all over.

No, Chester, it's not. Nobody knows if and when R&F will return to NY, and I know the topic is somewhat played out, but hey, it's a topic of interest.

If Infinity pulls Stern earlier than his 2006 exit (which I do suspect), R+F could get tapped to replace him on the stations they are on - all three of the stations they are currently on have Howard on in the morning.

If that happens, and R&F get 6-10am in DC, Balmer and Tampa, the that it could work just as well to put them on in NY and even Philly, where people still know about them.

That would be great if that happened!!!

if it's played out, how could it still be of interest?

and couldn't you have simply topped one of the many other similar threads?

So was Ron saying last night they'd be on satellite radio within 12 months just a bit? Because I only caught about 30 seconds of him talking about that, and it kinda floored me.

Yeah im confused with that myself i seems like its a poke at hoo-hoo but he mentions quite alot...the world may never know..or they will in 12 months..or not...don't know..but they even had that song "you can't say taint on the radio, until we go to satilliteio" hmmmmm

Yes, it's a bit. Ron's been goofing on Stern's statements about going to Sirius for months now, and this is more of the same. Bobo's "You Can't Say Taint on the Radio" song was just an extension of that.

Bobo's song was funny, even if the fabulous JFK production sounded 'eh'

Mikey - If you can, and when you have the time, can you put in the file library Ron giving his opinions about people (their "friends") going to satellite radio? It was part of a discussion he was having with Fez, right after they got off the phone with Tom Shales (November 11). I didn't see it there.

I think it spells out pretty clear their feelings on that topic

Ron also constitutionally revoked the term "terrestrial radio" last night as an inharmonious appellation for their chosen venue of performance. This denotes a sense of pride in doing what they do where they've always done it. Perhaps it's even a rallying cry to stand and fight, to take back the airwaves from the whackos who want to do our thinking for us!

but showing bulldozers dumping baby bodies into mass tsunami graves is important enough to justify being shown on a nauseating news loop

Im totally agreeing with you by pointing out the hypocrisy of their position.

I hope and pray that with the big guns (O&A, Howard Stern) going to satellite radio, Infinity will finally, FINALLY get their heads out of their asses and stream on the net. that would be killer!

I know those douches could make it work, even though I hear that there's issues of commercials and how much to pay people involved in live reads, but there's always a way.

Thanks!

The minute where Ron gets on his soap box, and gives his opinions on Sat radio, are 8:15 into this clip...here's the transcript...

"With the thing of Stern leaving regular radio, going to pay radio, and now I've got all my friends saying, `Hey this is great for everybody," I still - maybe I'm a little old-school about all of this - it seems almost a little sad that to listen to some of the shows you want to you gotta to pay, I don't know, $150 a year too. And it also feels sad to me that if you are going to get involved in this, and like we said, a lot of people that we know, I mean, so many people we worked with in regular radio, whether they are in management or on the air, are now already in this stuff. And I'm like, "Now you're not broadcasting any more. Now you are not setting up that situation where someone can hear you and disagree with you, and then call the show and call you an a-hole. You are just playing to people - everyone who is there is already a paying customer, so now you are just going to be talking with people who already agree with you from the beginning."

So, while they would more than likely welcome being added to Sirius and XM in addition to their terrestrial gig(s), it doesn't sound like they are sold on abandoning one for the other.

Curtoid, thanks for that quote. Ron's honest and intelligent obervation is so refreshing. It really does change the dynamic. For example, who would call XM asking for the Make Believe Ballroom?

Stern going to satellite is so lame, I truly hope this proves to be career suicide for him. Do I agree with the tenor of censorship that currently exists? Of course not, but when you are a true comedian, you ride the storm out, you make adjustments and figure out a way to present a funny show - it's not impossible. What's really sad is that the casual listener like myself won't be able to tune in when he's home sick or snowed in or something like that.
