AP Report...so it must be true! (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=762&e=1&u=/ap/20041227/ap_en_tv/people_carlin)
Too many pain killers with his wine...luckily he's looking to stop before a real problem. Too bad Miss Elizabeth didn't think along these lines.
The funniest/saddest part of the short article is when they get around to his film credits. You would think someone could have put together a better resume for him, even if it is just for a news blurb.

i can't get pass that he's 67, and entering rehab ...
at that age, i'd figure it would happen two or three decades ago, or would've become acoustomed to the lifestyle ...

when you hear something like this it seems to negate any of his credibility when he goes on various shows and gives his opinion and viewpoints on anything

I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about.

How so?
i was thinking about the recent election and him being on the Maher show. you wonder how drugged up he may have been and how it affects his thinking.
if you look at most people around you it would probably be hard to find someone that had to go to rehab because of pain killers even though most people have taken them at one time or another.

Why? The guy has some pain (Maybe a bad back) develops a problem, and nips it in the bud (pardon the pun) Increased credibility here. He's also had problems in the past with cocaine addiction, and his Father was an alcoholic, so I'd imagine he's sensitive about this stuff.
He did recently blow his stack at a Vegas audience, so that might have something to do with this as well.

Sorry I didn't read down further before my response.
From what I understand, painkillers dont affect cognitive ability, just pain. You can drive a car, do a job, and be OK. I didn't see the Maher show. What comments are you referring to?

Often true, but painkillers are the chemical cousins of (Heroin?) barbituates. Wouldn't surprise me either way. Look how bad Rush Limbaugh got hooked.

no apologies necessary...
i don't claim to 'know it all' and it's just my opinion
it just seems on the surface that for someone who pretty much makes a living via his 'strong opinions' his opinions become tainted and lose their credibility when you find he may have been on a mix of alcohol and pills, or cocaine, or any other substance
it would be different if he was a 'light-hearted' type comedian like let's say a Dean Martin who although drunk never took himself that serious
'and for me' for him to have to go into rehab leads me to believe he had a more serious usage than he would want to admit
again, just how my mind looks at it

Here's another group of people that need to be strapped to a gurney and castrated with a fishing knife, 67 year old men who go to rehab for wine and vicodin addiction.
All kidding aside, he is my all time favorite comedien, and I hope he gets well. I saw him for the umpteenth time in May at the MGM Grand, and though his act has turned into an hour and a half bitch-fest, he is STILL great.
I shucked it, and I shucked it, and I shucked it, i'm quite the mother shucker

funk, i dont know if you ever took vicodin, but its not really a mind altering drug. its more like drinkin, it just dumbs you out, but it doesnt really effect your mind. i have the same thoughts drunk and sober, the vic would only change his method of delivery, not what he actually thinks. its not like he is up there on acid making opinions about a Bush that has snakes crawling on his head or something
