For those itching for the 6th book of 7 in the series, the release date has just been announced by Scholastic Publishing as July 16, 2005. Holy shit, I'm excited, just about 7 months to go.

More info here (http://www.hpana.com/news.18452.html)

FINALLY! I can't wait. I'm sick of re-reading the other books.

You think Ron and Hermione will finally hook up or not until the very end?

Horray! I still have to read the 5th book, though maybe I'll start now and be ready for the 6th.

I think Ron and Hermione will get together, probably in this book. I'm certain of the pairing, but I think it will end sadly. Ron's gonna die in the final battle and then Harry and Hermione will end up together.

Not a chance that she'll kill of Ron. If any of them dies, it'll be Harry, but even then, I have lots of doubts. It'll just be your Luke, Han, and Leia thing (without the creepy incest thing). It'll be Dumbledore who sacrifices his life and maybe Snape, too. Because Snape kicks ass.

Harry can't die by Voldermorts hand, there's roundabout ways of doing it but i don't think it'll be anything direct.

I bet they're going to pull a Buffy and have one of the three die but come back to life somewhere within 1-3 minutes and then explain it all.

Do you think they're going to release the Goblet of Fire movie and the new book in the same month? Seems like the smart thing to do and would be pretty cool.

They are, however, about 75% done with principal photography, so maybe they'll push it up ... maybe.

On the front door was a sign saying "Due to a special account, no cell

these purple books was surrounded by yellow caution tape with a sign
reading "Authorized personell only".

I thought they were printing something for the Pentagon!!!

Although I am going to avoid specifics, I know there are people who may not want to know anything about anything, even opinions or reviews, so I'll put up the old spoiler vision to be safe.

Spoiler Vision on:

In a word, dissapointing. All along Rowling has said that this was an offshoot from CoS, and man did it feel like it. This book could have been written in about 500 less pages, and still done everything it needed to do. It's not that I didn't like the story, or disagree with anything that happened, or any of the characters' developments, or romantic subplots. In fact I think the mindset with which Harry ends the book is absolutely perfect. I've said all along that his battle with Voldemort was going to consume him until it's over, and it looks like it will. It's just that, there was nowhere near the story that went along with any of the other books. Are we supposed to get all blubbery over Tonks and Lupin? That's not story, that's hot garbage. And I would hardly call the Snape, Narcissa, Draco thing a mystery; at least nowhere near on par with PoA or CoS. Nor was the identity of the Half-Blood Prince. Not that I knew who it was, I just didn't give a fuck when I found out.

It has been said that these last three books are a lot more reliant on each other than the first four. That is, they're more of a single story told in three parts, so chances are the final installment will have some goodness that will bolster this book. Unless and until it does though, this book goes on the bottom of the list as the weakest installment in the series. It's not that it was bad, it just wasn't enough for it's own book.

: Spoilier Vision off.
If I were any better, I'd have to be twins!! INRI White people are so scared of blakjeezis INRI"Well, maybe there's a god above, but all I ever learned from love was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you." "God takes care of old folks and fools, while the Devil takes care of makin' all the rules."

this wasn't the best book, but this was probably the most important book (from a writer's pov). The stuff that happens here is required for the series to resolve to a satisfactory ending. By the end, she ratchets up the tension so much that I'm dying for the next one.

This is going back about 3 months, but to SKW and Moe: the books are surprisingly well written, and actually as the series has progressed, I'd argue that they're not really even intended for children anymore. Each book gets significantly darker and more adult in theme and tone.

I've been listening to all of the books on audio. Each is read by British actor Jim Dale, who does an absolutely phenomenal job of it. Seriously, it's some of the best audio work I've ever heard.

I don't really have an interest in reading the books, I still haven't seen the one film with Gary Oldman in it, I might still check that one out, the new one coming out soon looks kinda cool.

That movie with Gary Oldman, Prisoner of Azkaban,
was actually pretty good. Exceptional by typical summer blockbuster
standards. I've heard people say they were bothered that so much from
the book was left out, but I never read the book and judging the film
by just what is, I thought it was definitely
entertaining.
