Bad Move?

My buddy has purposely violated his probation so he will get locked up. He looking at 6 months to a year. On top of his legal woes, he owes $10,000 to the wrong people. His thinking is if he goes to jail he'll be safe from his debts and he will avoid three years of visiting his P.O. and group sessions. I've know the guy a long time, but he's beyond reason. I can't fathom the logic behind this move.

Rule of thumb. You don't get money from CERTAIN people, if you can't afford to pay it back. SIMPLE!!
If he thinks he will be safe by going away...
