These may just be in the movie and not the book, but here they are anyway:

1) Where were the ring wraiths during the last war of the 2nd age where Sauron was defeated? I would think the witch king, who couldnt be defeated by a man, would eventually plow through the whole lot of them.

2) When Frodo was stabbed by the ring wraith's blade, Aragorn jumps in and scares them all away with fire. Were they afraid of fire? I thought they were dead anyway, why would they be afraid of fire?

3) In ROTK, one of the characters ( I think Gandalf) mentions that the Witch King is the one who stabbed Frodo. If this is the case, then why didn't he just kill the whole lot of them, since they were all men?

1) The Witch King of Angbar fled to Mordor after the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, and eventually took control of a city in the North in disguise, holding it for Sauron. Saruman went to investigate it (before he was corrupted) and possibly fell under Sauron's control there, because he convinced the other istari not to drive the Witch King out. (I'm alittle shaky on some of it, so feel free to correct me people)

2) I can only assume that the heir of Isildur could still harm the Lord of the Nazgul, or at least his powers made the witch king cautious.

they made no mention to the bloodline of isildur being able to take out the witch king in the movie...they just said "no man"....and come to think of it, he says he could take out Gandalf, but Gandalf isn't technically a man...or even human...

I always wondered what was up with that Gollum guy. Weird, right?

Well, it seems he just had a schizoid personality disorder. (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=598&e=3&u=/nm/20041217/film_nm/health_gollum_dc)
