I just found this site with a few different trailers on the upcoming season.

24: Season 4 trailers (http://homepage.mac.com/csdesigns/24.html)

As we all know by now, unfortunately there is no more Kim or Michelle, but what's worse is I see in one of the trailers that the mongoloid Chloe is returning. :(

I've never watched this show. Are all of these shows over the same 24 hours or are the different days that add up to 24 hours? Or did I completely miss the concept on this?

Each season of 24 is one day, and each of the 24 episodes is one hour of that day. It's as if you were watching the show in real time.

Okay I missed season three and have to wait for it to come out on disc. Hopefully this month! This show rules! I can't even begin to think about season four without seeing season three. I have seasons one and two on disc and they are awesome. I missed season three because I was in Rehab. Maybe too much info, but any way I love this show!!!

Thanks for the links. I have not seen any of them yet (I don't watch much TV and missed the last Simpsons if they did play any then)

I haven't watch the 3rd season DVD (I saw it on TV but want to check out the extra stuff)

I hope this isn't the season where this show really takes a dive. No President Palmer, No Kim, No Michelle, No Nina, No Sherri. Jack is cool but those supporting characters really made the show great.

If you haven't checked out the show, RUN to a video store and at least rent it. It's not critical to start with Season 1, but it would be better to see it in order, and the first "Day" was the best.

I'm still a little miffed that they moved it to Monday at 9pm, but I'll be there. I guess Las Vegas will have to be viewed on tape...and Raw, especially as it it presently developing, has no chance.

And two hours to kick it all off...I've never been so psyched for an NFC Wild Card (http://www.fox.com/24/) game without knowing the teams involved.

Online game puts '24' fans in the action

By Chris Marlowe

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Before the fourth season of Fox's "24" kicks off on Jan. 9, fans will get a chance to save Las Vegas from nuclear annihilation.

That's the premise of a free online game that the network added to its Web site to help build anticipation for the two-hour premiere of the Golden Globe-nominated show.

In "24: Countdown," players assume the role of a CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) agent, similar to Kiefer Sutherland's character, Jack Bauer. The challenge involves three increasingly difficult chase sequences. Each mission takes about three minutes, and the average player will need two or three tries per level. The game, at http://www.fox.com/24, goes live Wednesday.

"It's a way to reach an audience that may not be as accepting of other ways to receive an advertisement, it increases stickiness by giving people a reason to stay on the site and it reinforces the fan base's interest in the program," said Carolyn Gray, Fox Broadcasting vp Internet marketing. "But our aim right now is to get people to the premiere."

The upcoming season of "24" premieres at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The two-hour episode will air again Jan. 10. It then begins its regular Monday night run Jan. 17.

I don't know if I want to be invested in another season of this (can't miss an episode) especially since kim won't be around. AND i'll have to deal with chloe some more. I thought last season was a bit of a disappointment. the first half of the "day" was a complete waste of time that ultimately had zero to do with the story. i.e. the kid in the mall, the mexicans etc. The highlight was when jack put one in his his boss's head.

So why is it that the terrorists were able to track down that kid who stumbled across their code on the Corporate servers but Microsoft and Adobe were not able to, as it was their servers that kid hacked into?

So everyone, who is your first choice at being the bad guy? We all know from the previous 3 seasons that the bad guys they show in the beginning are nothing more than lowly pawns.

My choice definitely has to be Sec. of Defense James Heller and/or the new President. Heller looked way too calm when he was in the traditional "we're gonna cut off your head" pose. I could just see him as setting this up to justify a war or something.

Doctor Manhattan
01-10-2005, 06:48 AM
If Heller is crooked, then Jack will be put into a situation where he may have to shot the father of the woman he loves. Cheezy.

I think Heller's just a Government douchebag "America has enemes!"

Love this show. I completely see why the got rid of everyone from the previous seasons; they need to stay true to the premise of the series, and not worry about trying to force different characters in or not. I hated the whole set up for Kim in Season 3, as much a love her. The show should be about Jack and about his very bad days.

Plenty of douche-bags to get in Jack's way and root against. The only people who Jack has confidences with are kidnapped - no more going over everyone's heads and going to his buddy, the President. I think Heller is one of the good guys, even if he didn't trust Jack that one instance - he seems like the only one who believes in the power of Jack.

Dells and Fords also seem to be on board this season.

Man - I almost with they smashed a season into 12 weeks, with 2 hours each week!

Chloe (who I HATED last year) was fantastic last night.

The only consolation to not having a weekly 2 hour movie event (!) is that they are going to be doing this right up to the end, without taking any weeks off, which always killed the momentum of the show.

This season MAY be the best since the first.

Don't think so. She's Alberta Watson -- she played Madeline on the cable series La Femme Nikita (which was done by the same folks as 24 -- good show, you see some of the old regulars pop up from time to time).

Her specialty seems to be "ice queen bitch," but she's done a bunch of "mom" roles -- like in Hackers and Spanking the Monkey.

Bingo! I think it is safe to say I am hooked. Let's see if just one hour a week dulls my excitement over this show.

I always like it when a show or a band who has been under my radar and undetected for years just comes in and kicks my ass. A show and a band have done that in the past week.

I'm still trying to figure things out and some past storylines and characters but I am just going to leave questions be for now unless I start to get really confused. The only thing I wonder is why didn't Jack when he had the terrorist in his grasp, tip off to the cops that he had him? Does he always work like such a renegade like that? It's cool and all but is Jack the type to always do things by himself and he is just so dead on and with it that he knows how things will ultimately turn out?

And I asked before, are the other Seasons like this? This intense? Should I go and check them out?

Fluff, to answer your question, yes they are usually this good. Last season however started in 1 direction and it seemed that halfway through the writers didn't like where it was going and went in a completely opposite direction. If you're that into it, the dvd's may be the way to go.

Season 1 was very good.
Season 2 was eh.
Season 3 first half sucked second half owned.

I didn't enjoy hours 3 & 4 as much as I did 1 & 2. From the unnecessary head of CTU's schitzo daughter storyline, to the black guy at CTU who is too much of a pussy to administer torture, to this new chick who just happened to always be in the shadows whenever Chloe was trying to sneak around it just seemed to drag and was really annoying.

Speaking of the new chick, does CBS and FOX and/or CSI and 24 have some deal to swap cast members? First CSI had Michelle come over to become the new lab tech, but then she quit. Enter Aisha Tyler who seems to be a permanent fixture, but now has shown up on 24 as an annoying snoop.

The only thing I wonder is why didn't Jack when he had the terrorist in his grasp, tip off to the cops that he had him?
Probably he thought that the cops might blow his cover and they would lose track of the guy. If Jack tipped off the cops, there's always the chance that the hostile would overhear, and if they just let Jack walk out of there, that would draw suspicion from the terrorist. He had to keep the act up.

The other thing is that he's not really CTU anymore. He's basically a bureaucrat, not an active law enforcement agent, so that could have caused a problem. I assume that despite his DoD credentials, CTU may have to intervene with getting him out of this thing with the cops.

The cliffhanger for Episode 3 last night (the first hour) was much better than the end of Episode 4. I mean...come on. We've seen Jack in worse situations!

Bingo! I think it is safe to say I am hooked.

Gabba - gabba - hey! We except you...we except you as one of us!

Let's see if just one hour a week dulls my excitement over this show.

It won't - Mondays for the next 19 - 20 weeks will own you. Don't make plans. Turn off your phone.

I'm still trying to figure things out and some past storylines and characters but I am just going to leave questions be for now unless I start to get really confused.

Since almost no one from the first three seasons (aside from Jack) are back this year, there shouldn't be too much confusion. You are in the same boat as the rest of us with all the other characrters, aside from Jack and Choe.

As far as backstory, just know that Jack has a daughter who is very hot and either living with or married to a former partner of his - first wife is gone - everyone he knew and trusted is either dead or has moved on - only Cloe is left at CTU. There is only one bad guy from a previous season that is unaccounted for, so don't be surprised if some hispanic guy turns up. OH! And trust NO ONE on this show - except Jack.

The only thing I wonder is why didn't Jack when he had the terrorist in his grasp, tip off to the cops that he had him?

He knew that they would fuck it up. If he had to, he would have killed that cop he took hostage.

And I asked before, are the other Seasons like this? This intense? Should I go and check them out?

I missed the first season - I started watching from the start of Season Two, and while I've enjoyed all of them, this one may be the most satisfying start (of the last three, at least).

I mean so far I low any preconceived notion of what you THINK may happen, doesn't and totally takes your head.

For me, the last countdown in the final 3 minutes always really, really get me, because I know that something will turn, usually something I don't expect, and then just end.

I was also wondering as to WHY Bauer handled the gas-station "robbery" the way he did.
He took that terrorist hostage and managed to get his wallet (with ID) and his Cel. I was suprised that he didn't do ANYTHING with all that information. That phone is probably LOADED with important phone numbers and other info.
He still has that stuff in his backpack so, maybe it will come in handy later.

Also...if he wanted to stall for time (while Chloe did her thing back at CTU) perhaps he could've released a few hostages or something. Did he really think that he would be able to just walk outta there, steal the car, and drive away? Instead, release the terrorist...let HIM get back in his own car and let him drive directly to Heller...all while spying on him w/ Satellite.
Am I missing something?

I missed most of hour 3, but if it's been anything like the first three seasons, he did so because stopping one terrorist with no weapons on him does not stop a terror threat. You have to follow the little guy back to the big guys to find out the bigger plan & thwart the real threat.

I know exactly what you're saying Fezident! My mom and sister said the exact same thing.

Firstly, they asked why the hell they didn't do anything with his cell phone, he could have at least TOLD Chloe he had it or something.

Also, if the only thing he wanted was TIME which is how they explained it, why didn't he just go slash the terrorist's tires? That would have bought him at least 10-20 minutes without him having to pull the robbery AND show the terrorist his face which I thought was odd.

Well, they can't cover EVERY little detail and slashing tires wouldn't be nearly as exciting as the robbery. Either way I still love the show even with 'unexplained' bits and pieces.

Does anyone feel like they're trying to fill Sherry's shoes with Aisha Tyler's character? No one can top Sherry, so far this chick's just really pissing me off.

Aisha Tyler's character is so annoying. I hope her story turns into something more than just "this position at CTU will really help her career"

Jack had to show his face so that Keifer wouldn't loose "face time"

I was noticing that at CTU people are always stopping you to ask what your doing. ALL THE TIME. How does anyone get anything done there? I would start hack-sawing people's heads off at my work if that happened to me.

Which Guy? Do you mean Behrooz Araz the Terrost Son? Use his phone for what?

Damn, I thought they were busted with that phone ringing.

No way, I just thought they'd have to kill Debbie's Mom as well (Which they probably will anyway since "Terror Mom" is following her to make sure she doesn't go to the police, and that doesn't cover it, since she would probably just call the police not actually go to the station, and I thought they don't care about the police because their plans will cause so much terror that the police will be too busy to worry about them or something like that)

Although I am getting a little tired of the whole I'm-Jack-Bauer-and-I-disobey-direct-orders-every-chance-I-get thing.

That suburban/terrorist family is completely watchable. I like their whole dynamic. Wouldn't suprise me if the Son peels off from the Dad and, ultimately, becomes a "good guy".

Still the best show on TV despite Aisha. They survived Amnesia and Cougar plotlines which where lamer.

Once again CTU proves they are the most incompetant branch of the U.S. Government. What is this now, 2 or 3 spies they've let in, TO WORK THERE? Then there was the guy who has no clue how to watch his gun and allows someone to kill a witness with it.

As for the show, the beginning was the best of the season, but then it dragged. Do we really need to have the Secretary's daughter's estranged husband in the picture? Unnecessary bullshit!

Heller giving permission to allow the torture (if you can actually call it that) of his son to continue was sweet though.

Yeah - that's how they like to do it. Get you looking in one direction with a 4-6 episode prologue, and then BAM! - hit you with what it's all really about.

So many great moments last night - the first couple of breaks were just jammed pack with new twists, and directions. Love this show.

If there's anything about 24, it's that there's plenty of twists and turns.

For all we know, Driscoll could be the mole and Aisha Tyler is black ops with Tony Almeida for Christ's sakes.

As for the estranged husband - he could also be in on the Override plot. You never know.

Granted, there are stupid plots - Kim and cougars come to mind - but overall, this season has been very satisfying so far.

I'm waiting for Bahrooz and Driscoll's daughter to hook up and have them on some madcap nuclear adventure.

I went through all of those as well - I also wouldn't have been surprised if he had called Chloe or his daughter, although I couldn't imagine how either of them could have helped him out.

Chloe not being at CTU couldn't help him out - Heller, simply being at CTU, which was compromised, couldn't help - lord knows where Palmer is these days - Chase was an idiot who kept getting his fingers blown up and screwing things up - and I thought Tony was locked up, so I was certain Kim would find her way to him, being the only real person he could 100% trust. I also thought it would have been brilliant to have had Kim running around durng Feb sweeps.

Sigh.

No Kim.

Great to see Tony, though - I was geeked when he showed up. Took Jack 30 minutes to get there, but luckily Tony must have been across the street.

Probably one of the best shows i have ever seen. Not sure if it is cause I am still enjoying how much I love this show and it's newness to me or if it is just that damn good. I'll go with the latter. I can't remember the last time I have been glued to a TV for a solid hour for a show. Can't remember such anticipation either.

Makes me wonder if other shows that have such buzz and that I have loved before and turned my back on are as good as everyone says they are. I try not to follow the flock too much but maybe sometimes the flock is right. They sure were with 24.

So many good shows don't make it out of the shoot that I almost never get into a show from day 1 because I don't want to get disappointed ("Arrested Development" is one exception these days). It took me until Season Two of "24" to get into it, and right now is the best I've ever remembered it.

Maybe because they've streamlined the show - even some of the side stories are contained within CTU (Maya; Paul).

All that said, I don't know how really popular "24" is with the masses. The critics love it, and people who watch it love it, but last year, for example, they had a hard time getting new viewers. I still have lots of friends who don't watch it, nor have they ever seen it.

They were very smart in waiting to start the season until after the 1st of the year, so they can run it every week without interuptions.

Auto response from Matty's friend: I haven't seen 24 yet so shhhhhuuuuuuut uuuuuuuup.

I have a good friend who TiVo's it, and that just drives me nuts. This is a show that needs to be watched in real time, with the rest of the world.

the pres is gonna be safe in the air from the nuclear meltdown...it's wierd how this pres and jack really have no connection

It is werid that they keep showing him, He really isn't doing anything, up to this point they would only need to show him once to show us that Palmer is out and they guy he was going to run against won the election.

His story will be more tied to Jack soon enough. (Television Psychic)

The soon to be ex-husband really annoys the shit out of me. Millions of lives are at stake, every minute counts and he's bothering people about his marriage.

I was thinking that he's not fully aware of the threat (as most people in the country aren't)

I'm sure his life will be threatened in a few hours (Television Psychic)

HELLO EXACTLY!

I mean, in real-time, the SoD is 40-45 minutes removed from BEING RESCUED FROM TERRORISTS, and the guy is bitching to him about his ex-wife?

Then the husband knows that she and Jack are on an important missions, so he calls her up and acts all creepy-stalkerish anyway?

I cast my vote for the Ex-Husband to be New Chloe.

What a great episode. I was starting to doubt if the nuclear plants are the main threat after last night but I'm not sure. I'm so bad at predicting this show.

I don't know if anyone else thought this but Heller's line ending the showing came off kind of cheesy. 'If we don't stop this we're looking at a nuclear holocaust.' GASP! I guess it was the way he delivered it. I think the show should ALWAYS end with Jack.

They kinda telegraphed Tony's return with Jack's phone call, but are you telling me that Tony received Jack's call and got to the garage in less than eight minutes?

I figured there was only four people Jack could call - Tony, Palmer, Chase, and Heller.

Wow, Chase completely slipped my mind. My wife's first reaction was Kim and mine was Palmer. Then she said Chloe and I figured that was it.

The thing that surprised everyone about Tony is everyone pretty much assumed he was in prison. That's exactly what I said to the Mrs. as to why it couldn't possibly be him. Awesome ending to a very boring episode!

Chase was an idiot who kept getting his fingers blown up and screwing things up...so I was certain Kim would find her way to him, being the only real person he could 100% trust.
Didn't Jack mention casually in conversation that Chase & Kim were in Europe (maybe Italy) during episode 1?

Given what happened tonight, the second spoiler is kind of obvious.
Reply about Spoiler: Especially since the whole CSI thing didn't work out.

By God King it's Tony Almeida!!!

My first thought was he called Palmer, but I was psyched see Tony and actually yelled "yeah!".
I did the same thing last night as I was watching the episode on my computer (Viva la Torrent!). I felt kinda silly, but I was that happy to see the return of the Tony Soul Patch. And then I proceded to explain the significance of said soul patch to my roommate.

All that said, I don't know how really popular "24" is with the masses. The critics love it, and people who watch it love it, but last year, for example, they had a hard time getting new viewers. I still have lots of friends who don't watch it, nor have they ever seen it.
Well, there are two more this week. My roommate has been just shaking his head at me for years now as I droned on about how good the show is. This weekend he borrowed the season 1 DVDs on his way to his girl's house since they really didn't have any plans. He figured they would take in a few episodes & he would see what all the hype was about.

They proceeded to watch 8 or 9 straight episodes & she wouldn't let him leave with the DVDs. And he needed a fix so bad the next night that he said "the hell with it" threw in Season 2.

Man, I am loving the crazy suburban terrorist family! The mom (who I am strangely attracted to) is sooo good at acting "normal". Too bad she's gonna die.

I think the jealous husband is definitely gonna ruin things for Jack. I.E. reveal Jacks location to the wrong people or not give Jack an important piece of intel or SOMETHING just to fuck with him. That dude is definitely a weasel.

Aisha Tyler is a good little liar although, she DOES seem to get away with an awful lot for someone who has only been working there for a few hours.

QUESTION: Is it me or are they getting kinda flexible with the whole "real time" thing? As posted earlier...Almeda sure was able to get to Jacks location in hurry. And the torture of Hellers son didn't last "almost 3 hours" of TV time.
Not that I mind but, I don't really remember the show taking this many liberties with the real-time concept.

I love this show - even a slow episode like this one always delivers at the end.

Thrilled they caught the mole; I'm happy Edgar saved the day; if Cloe was back she and Edgar could be tv's new super couple; how could Tony go from being such a bad ass last week, to an asshole this week, and then back to a bad ass by the end of the hour?; I guess we are going to see Michelle at some point this season; I think Tony is going to die at some point before the end of the day; the exchange between Tony & Jack's girlfriends were hysterical; I hated the torture scenes - they've already done that this season; I knew a sniper would pick off that guy.

It was good to see Aisha Tylers character get busted.
It was her first day. Technically, she was only at CTU for a few hours, and she REPEATEDLY got reprimanded/questioned for suspicious activity. (personal phone calls...computer hacking...etc).

If they let her walk around that place for even one more minute, It would've been waaay too unrealistic. In fact, I was suprised that her supervisor (the brunette) didn't point the finger at Aisha when they were accusing her and stunning her in the neck.

wouldn't it be wiser for the terrorists to have shot Jack first instead of the guy trying to get away in the helicopter. after all Jack has done stopping prior threats, it would be my #1 priority...he's amazing. at least have 2 snipers waiting by the helicopter and kill both the guy and Jack. i know its a show and Jack can't be killed, but at least have him in a spot where it wasn't possible to easily kill him like it would have been near the helicopter.

You can kill his wife though, and probably his daughter as well, people around him aren't safe.

It appears the terrorists were tying up loose ends. Aisha's car was wired to blow, they shot the helicoptor guy, etc. Anyone who wasn't part of the core terrorist unit whom they were done using was to be killed.

BTW, if you're curious, Air Force One can stay in the air indefinitely. It can be refueled in the air. Worse case scenario, if there's a problem with Air Force One, the President can be transferred to another similar plane.

Air Force One is just a designation - there's not just one plane.

Just great. Jack's line at the end you could see coming a mile away. That was great. Almost comedic. This show just keeps getting better and better. The Edgar and Mom thing was a bit tiring but he's right, if it was someone rich or in politics, they would have been saved first.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of what the storyline was of the first 3 seasons. No spoilers or anything but just a jist of what the deal was. I remember the first season was the Assassination attempt on the President or something to that effect. The others, I have no idea.

But that was only for the past few hours, Airforce one was in the air before the season started.

Also there are only six locations they need to worry about, Air Force One can land somewhere safe if they wanted to. It's not like all 104 sites are going up.

I wonder if The Springfield Nuclear Power Plant is one of the six.

Season 1: Kim gets kidnapped by a boy she's partying with. Her friend is killed.
Season 2: Kim gets arrested and escapes, only to get caught in a bear trap. Her boyfriend loses his legs.
Season 3: Kim gets a job at CTU and still somehow gets into trouble. Her boyfriend loses a hand.

It's funny. I can totally believe that terrorists can take remote control of nuclear power plants, but I totally flipped out when they could get two distinct heat signatures in the laundry room of a hospital, undoubtedly the hottest room of the enitre building outside of the boiler room. Trying to use infrared in a hospital laundry room is like trying to use night vision to find something in a room filled with flourescent lights.

Enjoyed the episode - two bad guys dead. Jack still driving from one end of LA to another - need to get him in another plan or helecopter. Tony back at CTU - when does he see Michelle? I would have liked for terrorist Dad had seen who took him out. Also glad to see Sarah stand up to Driscoll and get what she wanted.

It's getting to the point in the season (not even at the half-way point) when the glove of the big hand behind it all is finally hinted at - it's not going to be Arabs after all, has always been my (not so bold) prediction.

When Audrey and Paul toasted. When Maryanne was going to open the folder on the computer.

OooooH! Don't foget that Maryanne entered the password but didn't hit "Enter" on the 'puter, and none of the dumb terrorists bothered to check the screen before they left. All someone needs to do is go in there and hit "Enter," any maybe some more truth will be revealed!

I thought she did hit the enter, very shortly before the gunmen entered the room. Plus, she said she wasn't sure of the password only a guess.

That scene when Marianne and Curtis were in the office, how the fuck did those guys get in the office without a single shot fired when there were two guards outside and had their backs to the door. They had to be able to see anybody coming, yet two highly trained security guys get overtaken that easily. Stupid bullshit in my opinion.

A good show as always.

I think the problem is the override shouldn't be so hard to stop from inside the powerplants: If they designed it to take control of a powerplant if the powerplant was taken over from inside, wouldn't they have already thought about the situation where the remote device was taken over and put some kind of Super-override in place that the proper people in charge of the powerplant could use. It would seem to be a lot easier to steal the remote device than it would be to take over a powerplant (or all 104 at once)

It's always been that way - it seems that at least once e a season, here in DC, the local Fox station runs a story comparing CTU to the real agencies. The reality is always going to be much more different, so why not punch it up to comic book level, like in this or X-Files?

Personally, I would love a humorous episode that shows the human resources office of CTU - of the people who get chewed out for bringing in the moles.

Why not just cut off the dead guys thumb and use that?

Jack would have totally done that.

You know from the previews of next week that Jack is going to go to town on Audrey's husband with her in the room. I have a feeling that Audrey, when she sees Jack in action, toasting her ex, will start to re-evaluate her feelings for Jack. And he will be better off without her.

Also, when Curtis & Marianne go to retrieve the file, they only had 2 agents as backup? WTF? Didn't they remember the sniper incident from less than an hour before?

especially if he goes back into field work. I understand why he went into action to save his boss and Audrey, but he could have stepped back and let CTU take care of the rest once they were safe. Jack wants out of this kind of work but it's just part of who he is.

I don't see why they needed her thumbprint. Why not just cut off the dead guys thumb and use that?

Didn't they need a password as well, I don't remeber if they tried to just get the password.

Also, when Curtis & Marianne go to retrieve the file, they only had 2 agents as backup? WTF? Didn't they remember the sniper incident from less than an hour before? That scene reminded me of a scene from Season Two: A few agents and Reza went to some office to retrieve something from his almost-was-father-in-law's computer only to be shot by his Finace‚.

The nameless agents and security folks at CTU are almost totally useless. The Doctors aren't that great either, they almost killed Drisler's kid.

And they seem to fire/arrest all those who can do their jobs well (unless they happen to be a mole)

Edgar had better watch out. He does a good job and doesn't appear to be a mole. He's gonna get fired or killed (or both)

It seems that with each new season, you have to suspend your disbelief a little more with this show.

I would think that nuclear plants would have a way of manually shutting down a reactor. And when I say manually, I mean through cranks and valves and stuff that isn't connected to a computer, just in case a machine goes haywire or fails, locking out any computer control.

Most of the "backup" CTU guys should be wearing red shirts, they seem to be nothing but cannon-fodder most of the time. There is a lot of good writing in the show, but it has a bit of bad stuff in there too.

I think CTU's employee incentive program needs to be fixed, since many of them seem to turn to terrorists to help their financial situation....

EXACTLY!
I agree with this entire post.
I love 24 and I'm definitely addicted but, it reeeally bothers me when they throw logic/caution to the wind. It happens at least 5 times in each episode.

Like yesterday....when the terrorists wife (Deena?)had to be escorted back to CTU, Jack INSISTED that Tony be the one to do it b/c "he's the only one that can be trusted". Huh? There were 6 other agents there that Jack just trusted WITH HIS LIFE! Plus...those very same agents were going along for the ride or following in another car. So...what's with all the mistrust?
Shiz like that is always happening on that show.
Exactly WHY did Audrey have to go to her ex's hotel room? She could've arranged to meet him at a Diner. Or maybe even just kept him on the phone. As long as she (and therefore, CTU) knows his exact location...it's all good. Why all the stalling and danger?
Like I said, the show is great but, ya definitely have to check your brain at the door.

Don't worry Billy, I knew you were joking around. :)

It was so good Monday, again. I can't believe there are still 13 episodes left.

I just rented episodes 1-8 of Season 1. Damn, I'm addicted all over again. I remember the main plot lines but forgot all of the little stuff and a lot of the characters, like Milo. I went back to rent more and they're GONE! Now I have to wait for stupid people to return them.

But by the looks of the preview for next week looks like Tony is going from Unemployed-Pardoned Traitor to Director of CTU L.A. in just a few hours!
Which should make it just about time for "someone from Division" to show up...and then we have Tony & Michele face-to-face agin! I would almost bet one of her first lines will be, "Who's in charge here?"...just as Tony walks into the room and says, "I am." Won't it be great?!

Anyway, I missed the episode on Monday & had to download & watch it last night. The downloaded version cuts off before the sneak peek at next week, so maybe there's a hint to be found once I finally see the commercial this weekend. That being said, I think this is the first time in 3+ seasons that we don't know what the threat is for next week. Marwan is still on the loose, but we don't know what his next/back-up plan is & there's still 13 hours left in the day to fill.

Certainly that's too much time for just a manhunt, so I can't wait to find out what enormously evil plan was unfolding the whole time in the background while nuclear meltdowns were just a distraction.

Lasty, and perhaps most important, WOO-HOO...we have an AGGIE sighting!!

Every time a show says "stay tuned for scenes of next weeks episode" I change the channel. I also avoid the commercials during the week. I think it's the best way to watch.

Dumb question...

Can't Mrs. Azaz get the death penalty anyway for what she did to Debbie?

How's that for a kick in the ass.

"BTW... our deal promised you wouldn't see the death penalty for the treason and terrorism charges... but there's that pesky murder one."

I agree...and avoiding the commercials this season is much easier with the season starting in January. The last three seasons you couldn't avoid the commercials without real effort because you were beaten about the head with them during the baseball playoffs.

But what I meant was, for the first time I can remember there was the end to a threat at the end of an episode without a new one being introduced almost immediately. Right now the power plants are back under US control and other than Marwan running for his life, there's nothing else going on.

Can't Mrs. Azaz get the death penalty anyway for what she did to Debbie?
Absolutely...as soon as things calm down enough for there to be a reason to search the house. Right now I don't think anyone even realizes it yet.

Sometimes they really play things close to the vest (the last two weeks they show almost nothing), and often times if they show something, it's something that happens in the first five minutes of the show - HOWEVER, they have included clips from key scenes late in some episodes which, if you pay attention, can really piss you off. One of the worst was 2 seasons ago when President Palmer's press sec. was thrown down the stairs - they showed that entire scene the week before just as it played out.

AND - we still don't know what happened to her?!

Argh.

Love the show, though.

She went on to become Baltimore's medical examiner.

Then she got fired and joined Starfleet.

In other news, I still can't get past the fact that President Keeler is the Unhappily Ever After guy -- the Married With Children rip-off with Nikki Cox and that stupid muppet voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait.

It displeases me.

It's a damn shame that the only actors from HLOTS I've seen getting work besides Andre are Kyle Secor and Reed Diamond. Both of them would fit well on 24, I'd think.

Couldn't you imagine Bayliss as the Season 5 Big Bad?

Secor would definitely be a fit for 24, but he bugs me because from certain angles (when his hair is longer) he looks too much like Rick Springfield.

And speaking of HLotS, if they wanted an odd character to play a computer geek, I would have loved to see Max Perlich play the role of Edgar instead of the mushmouth that they chose. That way when Cloe was getting the boot from CTU he could have sent her off with one of my favorite movie lines..."Stay cool, Chloe. Stay cool forever!"

Anyway...only 6 hours or so...can't wait!

Well, for starters, I think the Jack Bauer naked torture scene would go in an entirely different direction (recalling the bi-Bayliss storyline).

Andre Braugher would be great, too.

Also, don't forget ADA Danvers' turn as Victor Drazen's son.

And to topic-drift, looks like most of the HLOTS mains are still working; Belzer's on SVU; Clarke Johnson is directing; Jon Seda & Michael Michelle are both on 'Kevin Hill.'

Heck, looks like even Daniel Baldwin is working again.

As the doctor stated, "We're not equipped to handle patients like [Maya]".

Whatever they cause, Driscoll's got a huge malpractice suit money coming her way. They OD her daughter on something she's allergic to, and she kills herself three hours later?

For what it's worth, Maya killed herself using a piece of mirror. It's not like she stole a scapel.

yeah, I'm quoting myself...

Even Edgar said that didn't make sense (regarding the fact that a kid could kill herself while being watched inside CTU, <b>an intelligence agency where everyont is SUPER-paranoid and CTU staff can't even leave their cubicles without someone asking them what they are doing!</b>). That would be cool if characters on the show would point out when things don't make sense, like the fact that they were able to use a satellite to get heat signatures inside the hospital but Edgar said they couldn't do the same thing inside the terrorist internet staging area when Jack was looking for the Sec of Def. and Jack's chick.

We've had

- A bomb inside CTU

- three (?) moles inside CTU

- An employee's wife shooting a witness

- Jack's daughter working there

So to be honest, a suicide is par for the course.

I find it rather disturbing that Edgar & Tony were able to send an "IM" to precisely the computer that Jack was working at, into the network of a U.S. defense contractor, but when Audrey's husband was sending something to a different machine in the same room, he asked Jack for the machine's address. Whenever they deal with computers and certain other electronics, they take a lot of freedoms when it suits the story. When they need to kill some time or "build suspense", suddenly, a normal, everyday function of the computer/device is unavailable.

If the EMP device was preventing cells from reaching their towers, the NEXTEL PTTs would not have worked either as pointed out by BoondockSaint. But why would it have an 8-block range? I could understand having the device as a safeguard to erase sensitive gov't info in the event the place were infiltrated by hostiles, but shouldn't it confine the affected area a bit?
