If you had the power, would you rebuild?
Keep in mind, would you want to work there?
Do you think that the buildings alone rebuilt would be a memorial, or should there be a separate memorial? Or just a memorial period?

Yes, yes I would. To HECK (and
I mean THAT!) with the
peaceniks and their parks! I
say, build 1 220 story building!
Seriously, yes, I think they
should rebuid! No parks! Let's
put up something that
symbolizes capitalism and
America at its finest!

Rebuild. 2 Towers, taller or same height as the Petronas Towers, and a nice, new design, not replicas. I would work there, hell yea. With all the reforms and renovations to security at airports and everywhere else, i'd feel comfortable. F MEMORIAL PARKS! i don't need a park to remind me of what happend there, of all the lost. Have a lil plaque, a sculpture maybe, in front of the NEW buildings, but no memorial park.

I must disagree with rebuilding on the site. My reasoning is that it is now an gravesite for literally thousands of unidentified people who have died there. It is also the site of our first battlefield in the war against terrorism. Would we build on Gettysburg or Manassas? I think not.
This site is now hallowed ground by virtue of the blood of so many American citizens and to cheapen their memory would be a national travesty.
Thank you.

If you don't rebuild them, than the terrorists really have won.
Their goal was to disrupt our lives and change it forever...on one level they did that. However, by rebuilding the towers again, bigger and better, that's our middle finger to those assholes, saying no matter what they do to us, we will rise again stronger than ever.
I want to see those towers built again. And this time, I want them so f'ing tall, that the sheer size of them embarasses us. (The missile launcher on the top is a good idea too. )

Well rumor has it that two 50 story buildings are in the talks of being erected. Screw that! I say build four 220 story skyscrapers and have a memorial put right in the middle and call it a courtyard of rememberance. This way, we can show them we will PROSPER, and we can also dedicate these buildings to those who lost their lives.

Again, I must re-iterate, I strongly disagree with your contention that we must rebuild the towers. They are only edifices of steel, concrete and wood. The souls that they would rest on are more valuable and priceless than any building could ever be.
We must honor our dead with a suitable resting place that truly shows the spirit of America.
Thank you.

Wow. You really may have convinced me, Reeshy. At first I was just like everyone else; I wanted to build bigger and better just to stick it up the asses of those that did this.
But it is also a slap in the face of sorts to the thousands of innocents who perished there. To merely sweep them under the rug, so to speak, and carry on like nothing happenned is not the way they deserve to be honored. And now I think a memorial built there would also serve as a constant reminder to us why we must remain vigilant and ready.

I think we should rebuild, but in the plaza where the fountain was we place a huge memorial and burial site.
This must not paralyze us and we can never forget!

I say rebuild. They died in
vain if we don't rebuild.
Give them a resting place in
some cemetary or
something, like they did for
the war veterans. We need
to bring business and
commerce and life back
into the area.
If we don't rebuild, they won.
They took us out.

In the end, all of this means
nothing.

I'm not saying we shouldn't build a memorial. I'd like to build a memorial AND the towers too.
You're not disgracing anyone's memory by rebuilding the towers. If you really want to get into a debate about the subject, you could weigh in the fact that, beyond just the people who died there, those towers were a huge national symbol of what America stands for, and thus they MUST be rebuilt. It's kind of like Washington D.C. : back in the War of 1812 the British burned the city to the ground, but we didn't go, "Gee, that was horrible, let's build a memorial and move the capital." I personally feel that rebuilding those towers would be the best memorial of all.

First everyone has to realize that clean-up will not be finsihed for A YEAR! That's how massive this desctruction was. I don't believe that rebuilding two towers is the best idea, rather build a memorial of some kind, that way there is a rebuilding of some sorts, but it is done in a way to respect those who were lost.

Certainly a memorial is needed.
However, the most fitting memorial would be buildings even grander than the ones destroyed. The plaza between the buildings could have a wall of names like the vietnam memorial in Washington.
Rebuilding is essential to the psyche of NY and America as is a memorial for those murdered by the terrorists.

FUCK a memorial! I won't forget this if there isn't a memorial where the towers were. I won't be upset if there's not a little park or a wall fo names I can visit. I think that new towers would stick it in the face of RAG HEAD FAGGOT TERRORISTS everywhere. And I'm a carpenter, so it would help to keep me and my union brothers in work. And the building themselves would create jobs again too.
Build. Build high. Build strong. Build for America.
