View Full Version : My coworker recieved a letter from the SS

FMJeff

The Selective Service sent my co-worker a letter (i've seen it) asking if the information they have on file is correct...and nothing more. My coworker was never in the military, never in ROTC, never picked up a gun.

Can we say smells like draft prep is in the works?

Everyone gets a letter from Selective Service. And everyone must reply. It's the law.

If they really are the "Selective" Service, I dont think you'll have anything to worry about.
Unless, of course they currently have a shortage of conspiracy theorist nutbars.
Then you'll need to buy a bus ticket to Canada.

I kept getting Selective Service letters while I was in the Army. I never filled them out, I wanted to see what the consequences were.

Am I the only one that never saw a commercial for the Selective Service before this year?

It's the one where there's like a sweepstakes winner because he registered online.

It's awful and I get to watch it at least 3 times a day.

They used to be on all the time when I was younger. They had a catchphrase:

"It's quick. It's easy. It's the law."

yes i remember that one. I also remember the one where the kid (looked like the Dr. Pepper guy) goes to get a federal job, it's looking good, then they find out he didn't register with selective service and kick him out.

Am I the only one that never saw a commercial for the Selective Service before this year?

they used to be on quite frequently, but I haven't seen one in at least 10 years.
there's one now?

They used to have an SS commercial with Ed Asner as the spokesman. Or maybe I was thinking of Pat Morita. Come to think of it- I think it was a Colgate commercial nevermind.

It means nothing. I believe you need to fill one out when you turn 18.

My history teacher said there couldn't be another draft. The technology in the military takes to long to train.

Actually I think he used to appear in the old RIF commercials "Reading Is Fundamental!"

I also remember the commercials from about 10 years ago that were for the selective service "takes no time, just sign on the line at the post office for selective service" was the jingle I remember.

That's what it was! Thanks, Reefy!......Boy, what a strange choice to get kids to read: Ed Asner. No wonder I only like books about stout, old men who seem like they're pedaphiles.
