Stupid computer trouble

i tried to install my Max Payne game on my windows Xp and i got an error message saying "C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications". Does anybody know how to fix this problem?
