I have digital cable and this show rocks. It's on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 11pm. Some video highlights from tonight are Julian Cope, Lords of The New Church, The Soup Dragons, Killing Joke, Violent Femmes, Camper Van Beethoven, PJ Harvey.

Any fans? Bueller?

Digital Cable? Does that mean it's on VH1 Classic rather than regular VH1? I might have to check that out.

VH1 Classics is filled with the old obtuse shit that MAYBE got played once or twice on during the glory days of "Post Modern MTV" and "120 Minutes."

BTW - Alice - I still have that tape for you! I guess you don't need it, now that you have the digital cable.

These channels are what's keeping me holding onto the digi-cable. Well, that and the All My Children reruns and the old movies.

I love The Alternative.
It's a favorite on my Tivo.
It's all about They Might Be Giants & The Cure videos.
Dave Kendall would be proud.

if there's more than one VH1, why isn't it called VH2 or VH3?

I don't think that would appeal to their target audience. Or some bullshit rhetoric...

One highlight of the evening's videos: Cliff Richard and The Young Ones video for Living Doll.

"The Alternative" is REALLY hit or miss. The episodes are either completely fantastic or absolute shit.

And considering they have a "window" of basically 1977-1993, you see the same videos on there WAY too much. I think "Rise" by Public Image Ltd. has been on at LEAST two dozen times since the show started earlier this year...same for "The Only One I Know" by The Charlatans UK. Great songs, but godDAMN, give 'em a rest for a few months.

But hey, any time I can turn on a channel and actually see Teenage Fanclub or Catherine Wheel or Echo & The Bunnymen or Black Flag videos is fine by me.

VH1 has also made their other 24 hour video channel kinda cool now. "VH1 Mega Hits" will start a video block with something new and crappy, like Velvet Revolver or Hoobastank...but then they've been dipping back to 90's-era alternative or Britpop for the next 2-3 videos. Great bands like Luscious Jackson, Massive Attack, Pulp...it's bizarre. But cool!

I wish they'd play old, unedited episodes of 120 Minutes.

Jeff Buckley video on VH1 Mega Hits right now.

Afghan Whigs right before it.

Awesome.

VH1C is my favorite channel - its awesome! Mostly I just watch the Alternative, but occasionally I'll check out some of the other shows. Love to see all of the obscure stuff! :-)

By the way, last Sunday there was a Julian Cope video played, but no info on the name of the song, album, etc. It was between "Speak Like A Child" by Style Council & "Feed The Tree" by Belly. Can anybody help with the name of this song???
