Because this war/military action in Iraq is a clusterfuck, too many people have had the tendency to forget that there are kids over there that deserve respect for serving their country (despite the misguided purpose of their mission). I have personally had conversations with people that have included phrases like "Fuck them, they're pawns for big business" and "If they're stupid enough to go die for oil, serves them right". Keep in mind, the punk rock sub-culture that I am a part of is all about being anti-everything, and I know these thoughts don't echo the sentiment of the masses. Regardless, when I was buying my daughter's Halloween costume with my wife (whose brother leaves for Iraq at the beginning of December), and they had the ribbons for sale, I thought of those conversations & I felt the need to buy one.
I'm not easing my conscience.
I'm not trying to prove I'm more patriotic than the next guy.
I'm just pleading to others to support the kids that are out there dying for our country's objective even though that objective may not concur with your ideals.

That said, the point of my post wasn't to discuss whether we should have yellow ribbons on our cars or not. It was to ask, "What kind of terd feels the need to steal these things?"
