I know there are a bunch of Cubs fans like Mojo on here so I figured I'd post this. Apparantly Jim Hendry and De Podesta have already set up plans to meet as soon as the meetings start and hammer out a Sammy Sosa trade for.......... Shawn Green. Personally I think this is a pretty stupid move on the part of the Cubs. Green just does not impress me and I feel he is way on the decline. he had two huge seasons and eevr since, just has not played all that well. Granted Sosa is also not the player he was, but I still feel he can bounce back from an injury plagued season and be a 40 homer 280 avg. type player.

I saw on the ESPN site a few weeks ago that there is bad blood btwn Sosa, Dusty Baker and some of his teammates. Another rumor was to send Sosa to the Mets for Cliff Floyd

Yeah there's been talk that since Minaya and Sosa are close the Mets would swing a deal. This, however, seems to carry much more credibility in my eyes seeing as how these two guys have already set up plans to meet during the winter meetings. Sosa and the Cubs has been fighting with one another this entire season, because he feels that the Cubs are trying to pin them not making the playoffs on him.

I'm a Dodgers fan and I'd do this trade in a second. Might be good for everybody involved.

GREEN!??!
Fuckin' Sosa.
He's been acting like a bitch all year, and his little tantrum during the Cubs' last game of the season probably shot all chances of them getting a decent trade for him.
I want him gone, but not like this.

How about for Piazza?

Works for me.
Especially in the off-chance they re-sign the now-free agent Nomar.

Shawn Green is way better than Piazza. Green isn't as good as Sosa in his prime, but he isn't in his prime anymore, is he? Green has potential. With Piazza, you have to cross your fingers and hope you get a season out of him.

Alright, fair enough. Though the Cubs need more of a "senior presence" in the dugout at this point with Alou gone and Sosa potentially leaving, and if Nomar doesn't come back. They're packed with youngbloods...luckily...
