with all this discussion about the nineties being "old school" and whatnot i suppose my question is Who killed kurt cobain? personally i wouldnt consider 10 years to be old school but millions of vh1 viewers cudnt be wrong i suppose, so what is everyones opinion on this? i read this book on the subject and i honestly dont think he killed himself...who did?

The "who killed Kurt Cobain" theories are pretty ludicrous, and don't really hold up to much scrutiny. They involve little to no evidence, and a whole lot of theories and guesses, and not much of anything else.

The heroin issue is the closest to potential "proof" that he couldn't have shot himself, but nobody can really say for sure. Cobain was a smack junkie of disgustingly high proportions, and it's very possible that even a dosage that high would not have incapacitated him as quickly as it would a "lesser" user. In short, the guy was a rich smackhead, and he had a really high tolerance. All he had to do was shoot up, put the equipment away, stick a large gun in his mouth and fire...we're talking maybe a minute or two, tops, and that's being generous.

Besides, look at the guy's history. He had suicide in his blood...literally.

i understand where you are coming from and why there is probable cause to believe he killed himself, but i gotta tell ya he didnt. when interviewed, all of his friends and family thought he wasnt suicidal. The common misconseption is that the last year of his life escalated into a sadness he couldnt handle. the fact of it was that he was actually happy the last year. his chronic stomach pain had gone away, he had a new baby daughter, he was indeed very happy. one of the last places he was seen alive was a rehab center..he was obviously coming off of heroin...besides the fact that you are WRONG he would not have had time to shoot himself, experts say he had 5 seconds TOPS after that syringe went into his arm, it was pure barely diluted heroin, and anyway why would he blow his head off? why would he haunt his daughter with those images when he could easily OD on heroin. and thats not even touching on the fact that the only part of his "suicide note" that mentions suicide is the part that experts have conclusively stated wasnt written by him READ IT http://cobaniac.tripod.com/josh/id4.html

I've read the "Who Killed Kurt Cobain" book, and followed the Tom Grant "case" with mild interest in the late 90's/early 00's when I hit Nirvana fan sites looking for decent bootlegs. Oh, and of course, I've seen "Kurt & Courtney." Best laugh I had over a movie in years!

I wasn't impressed.

Like I said, mostly speculation and theories...not much to back them up.

i told you countless times i base my speculation on 10 years of research of course it is not FACT per se but it is no less of fact that your supposed fact that he killed himself..the only reason we think he killed himself is that the investigators dismissed it as a suicide before they even considered murder... if they had realized the overwhelming amount of evidence to the contrary of their ruling it would have been further investigated. the fact that the case is still closed is a matter of pride for the seattle police department

A little semantics, and protocol for claims:

Speculation isnt facts and arent based on a decade of research. Speculations are guesses, often wild guesses. Theories are based on evidence.

A claim is made: 'Soomeone Killed Cobain'

Claims require evidence for said claim; the burden of evidence is on the person who makes the claim to provide the evidence.

Here's where it falls apart for most. Showing that the 'current theory' may not be 100% accurate is not evidence For a claim, saying 'this or that' wasnt right/didnt fit; this isnt evidence For a theory.

People can scream from the rooftops as to any one of a million conspiacies: Look! the data doesnt fit! Look at these numbers! This here!

Thats nice; but until one provide Evidence For their claim, they are providing no evidence whatsoever.

This may even fall into Sagans 'Extraordinary Claim' status: ya know, JFK,UFOs, Bigfoot; his challenge: Extraordinary Claims require Extraordinary Evidence may be somewhat flawed, but for a Theory to be put forth, a real theory, it cant be "He didnt killed himself because the current theory has holes in it."

Burden of Evidence is on the person making the claim. I say I got a pink Unicorn in my garage eating all my good garbage? That my problem, to show the police, not the police's to search for.

It's very rare that I assert my special privelege with God, but I figured he's the only one who could really answer this and end this gay ass debate.

What happened was Kurt Cobain did actually kill himself, but not because of drugs or Courtney. He apparently had been receiving a deluge of creepy calls from a man with a vibrator offering sexual favors with a falafel "thing" and just simply couldn't take it anymore.
