Bush Faults Kerry for Scare Tactics (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=1963&e=1&u=/ap/20041018/ap_on_el_pr/bush_10)
Bush, in an Associated Press interview, said of Kerry, "He's trying to scare our seniors. It is wrong to try to scare people going into the polls."
Were it not for 9/11, President Bush wouldn't have a leg to stand on in this election. His campaign uses fear as a crutch and the "War on Terror" (eg IRAQ), is the only thing they have going.
People are getting scared that we'll get a repeat of the 2000 election. People are scared that your certainty will lead us into Iran or North Korea. People are scared that privatizing Social Security is a disaster. This administration has a problem with the truth, with reality, and with delivering on its promises. It has nothing to do with the election and everything to do with the recent history of things just not being as rosy as the administration painted it to be.

It's no less a threat now than it would be under a Kerry administration. And, though we haven't been struck here, terrorism has increased everywhere else around the world. And now that dude in Iraq who's name I'm not even going to attempt to spell, has joined Al-Qaeda with his group, I'd say it's more a threat than it ever was.

Hells yeah. Better the terrorist attack someplace else than the U.S. And you all thought Bush had no plan.
Kerry's plan for Iraq is to withdraw. What kind of message does that send to terrorist? (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20041018/pl_afp/us_vote_bush&cid=1521&ncid=1963&sid=96378801)

Then again, those who oppose his actions hold that against him, so it could work towards Kerry's advantage, as it has for the past ten months.

that says it a lot though, doesn't? 9/11 caused the administration to rethink it's entire plan for the next four years. he didn't accomplish all of what he said he would because priorities changed. What war tim e president accomplished mush domestically?

LBJ I'll give you.
Most of FDR's acomplishments were before the war.
But Truman? Truman had the "fair Deal" where he advocated universal health insurance and civil rights legislation.
that worked out well.

They are both running kind of slimy campaigns, which every single candidate has done since the dawn of slimy campaigns.
I always find it funny how 80% of ads and debates are spent slamming the other guy, as opposed to bigging up yourself.
My vote for president is Silera. Bout time the White House got a little Latin...and some common sense.

that says it a lot though, doesn't? 9/11 caused the administration to rethink it's entire plan for the next four years. he didn't accomplish all of what he said he would because priorities changed.
Did he really rethink the plan though? He got his tax cuts. He got no child left behind. He set new priorities regarding the war on terror, and at this point we've completely drifted from the original plan, so he hasn't even met his new priorities.
I called Kerry a kettle, because I wish candidates didn't have to resort to distorting issues in order to get the attention and votes. However, in this election, as in many, it seems that "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" is the only way to go.
The Bush campaign has spent the last three years drilling fear into every American's heart. Seriously, this takes balls for G.W. to say, with a straight face.

What about him? He freed the slaves...but outside of that, his domestic policies mostly involved violating the Constitution.

What was so great about his domestic policies?
And furie, Truman was really the first president to significantly move forward the "modern" civil rights movement with his policies. And his economic plans were pretty sound. I mean, is there a president you CAN'T fault for having shitty health care plans?

I'm still undecided.
All I see of Bush is that it's everyones else's fault and that he bases his decisions on religious belief when there's supposed to be a seperation of religion and state. And if we don't vote for him we'll most likely be attacked again.
All I see of Kerry is that he has a plan for everything and willing to admit that there have been mistakes done by the prior administration. And if we don't vote for him Social Security may be privitized and there may be a draft considering how our forces are streched thin.
All I see of Nader is........um.......I don't actually see him at all. Is he still running?
In the end, I don't know if I'll be able to vote because I didn't go to Electoral College due to finances but education is supposed to solve the minimum wage. So how do I get there? Do you see a dilemma?

Um....you do realise there will still 10 million unemployed even after all the "New Deal" stuff?....
Uh, yeah, it was THE DEPRESSION. Tens of millions of people were put out of work. If America hadn't entered WW2, it would have taken years to recover, if not a decade or more. America was going through a very noticeable and quickly rising economic increase on all levels before we entered the war, much of it thanks to the FDR administration's social planning (Temporary or not, they worked, and were working, before WW2). The means by which we were able to hit production so spectacuarly during WW2 were aided and bolstered by the pre-war economic planning. No, FDR didn't lift us out of the Depression all on his own...but neither did WW2.
Did I say he was a saint? Of course not. I simply said he was the best president we had in the 20th Century. He was also the first "modern" president. The guy was a champ. Domestically and as a wartime president, nobody else in the 20th century even comes close. He's like the Lincoln of the 1900's.

which would have put unemployment at roughly 11%(1940). not bad for a depression, when you consider it passed 25% in 1933.
