i went to Kimball Hospital this morning to get this EMG test, it's to test your nerve conduction or basically whether you have good circuits inside your body...
i've been having this pain in my left elbow for three months. i get the pain when i lift things upward with my fist in a downward position, just a cup of coffee will give me a decent degree of pain. When i was at the softball games Sylvia suggested it possibly being some nerve damage so i went to my physician and he gave a prescription for the test.
Anyway they put some pads on your fingers and then he presses this 'shock rod" (that's attached to a computer) and starts sending bursts of electricity into your arm and the computer measures the amount of electricity sent and received(i think) kind've like how the telephone company tests circuits some of the bursts would make your hand jump and it felt really wierd.
Next he stuck a pin in three different areas of my arm and hand and listened to the electrical output of the muscles, first when i was relaxed and then he made me apply pressure and you can hear the electrical activity of the muscle increase. As he tested he would move the needle around while it remained in my skin, it pinched but not too bad.
It was pretty cool stuff. It turns out i have very slight nerve damage but my problem is more 'tennis elbow' related...
