...with no prior experience?
I mean, I still have a long ways to go, but I'm a mass comm major at Quinnipiac, which has one of the best mass comm and media programs in the nation, and I was wondering, once I graduate with the major in Mass Comm, with a minor in film or theater, haven't decided, what's the best way to break into the business? Should I intern as soon as possible?

The only way to get your foot in the door is to intern.
Above all else, and this is key: PAY YOUR DUES AND BE PROFESSIONAL.
Even if it's the shittiest job in the world, you gotta do it when your first start out. People have very long memories and an internship is basically a measuring stick of how well you'll do.
I have two examples:
Example One: I dedicated myself in one internship, and I busted my ass hard. When the internship was over, there was nothing available at the company, but I cultivated many relationships there and kept in touch.
Six months down the line, my dedication was remembered with a job offer with no interview, no nothing - the job was mine if I wanted it. Unfortunately, I had already started a new job, but the fact they came to me meant a lot.
Example two: I had hired an intern who then broke his commitment to me and told me to my FACE that he was interning for a competing company. That annoyed the hell out of me. Granted, he was honest, but you don't tell company A that you're leaving a commitment because you want to give the same commitment to a competitor.
A few months later, he applied for a job at our company. This time, it was a paying position. Considering his unprofessionalism the FIRST time, we all had a good laugh.
If you want to, PM me and I'll give you a couple of contacts in NYC you can reach out to for possible leads.
