Sorry if there was a thread on this but I haven't seen it.
What are your thoughts about the mother (who's son died in Iraq) causing a ruckus during Mrs. Bush visit in NJ?
Can someone post a link to the story??First Lady visits NJ (http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-17/109539809984990.xml)

Keep shit like that out of a Bush rally. The police are going to remove you in the end anyway and it just makes you look like a dick.

Good for her and all the people who sneak into Bush campaign rallies. I'm sick of having a President who ignores and is inaccessible and off limits to half the country.

She lost a son. I think she's entitled to make a little noise.

True, and it's a good place to get some noise, however Laura Bush isn't going to stop her speach to discuss the issue.

OK, but did Laura send him there?

This is just astounding...

If you mean did she give the order, no. But she is the wife of the person who did. If the mother could yell at Laura Bush in person, then she has all the right (so far) to express her feelings about Laura's husband and his actions. The grieving mother is further correct in that Bush did kill her son. She is also right in asking why Laura Bush's children would never be in the military to fight their father's agenda.
On a related note:
Assemblyman Bill Baroni, R-Mercer made statements to The Times of Trenton that Sapir-Niederer ought to "find something better to do with her time."
Unbelievable.
This administration tramples and stifles any constitutional right it sees as a hinderance to its agenda and does so with cheers and applause.

Hmmm... last time I checked he didn't have this woman arrested, or muzzle her, he just said she needed to find somthing better to do. I didn't know that was violating her constitutional right...

Yea, I'm going to have to come right out and say that I don't think a local assemblyman is part of the Bush Administration.

She was arrested after arguing with officers removing her from the building.
He didn't have her arrested, but his comments pretty much echoed the fact that this lady was stupid/wrong/unentitled to express herself.
Apparently if you can't say something nice about George Bush, you shouldn't say anything at all anymore.

I don't particularly care for people making outrageously stupid statements like this. Whether you supported the war or not, or the president or not, war brings about death. Plain and simple. Now I'm not talking about the mother and her speaking out to Laura Bush. I think she has the right to express herself. But I don't like when people acuse the president (whoever it is at the time) with killing their kids. I mean many Americans died under the Clinton presidency, yet I would never say that he's responsible for their deaths. It's one thing to be critical of a presidents policies and the decisions they make, but another to outright claim the blood of a fallen soldier is the blame of the president.
This is a fine line to walk, because to me it's fair game to be critical of the president, but I get a little nervous when people use such hatred in their words towards whoever it is.
I understand how someone can say that the decision that the president made in going to war ultimately lead to the loss of American soldiers lives, but that is not the same thing as saying "George Bush killed her son" I know it's semantics, but to me it's important that our words be a little more careful.

Any soldier who dies in a wartime environment is the responsibility of the president.

How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?

I agree. I'm only saying the choice of words to make his point were poor.

Last time I checked, the army is voluntary. The point of having an army, is to fight if the decision is made to fight........ not to look good on a resume. If you join the army, you know 100% that if the call is made, YOU volunteered to answer it.
BTW, George Bush AND John Kerry sent the army to war. Congress voted. It passed. Shut the fuck up already.

Kerry's vote authorized the President to go to war as a last resort when dealing with Iraq, and so the threat of war could be used to pressure Saddam into complying. I agree that those in the military should know what they are getting into - that they might be sent overseas and killed - but the hope is that they would be sent to war only when absolutely necessary.

Well it comes with the risk. You're actually lucky if you don't have any military duty during your time served. If you died in combat, don't blame anyone but the person/people who killed you.
However I'm not going to go into how John Kerry authorized the war because that's some gray area for me.
