09/14/04) MINEOLA - Nassau District Attorney Denis Dillon announced the latest arrests Tuesday in a crackdown on unemployment fraud.
Dillon says the 25 defendants stole a total of more than $160,000 in unemployment benefits. He says they were collecting the benefits while they were working.
Dillon says his office and the New York State Labor Department joined forces in investigating unemployment fraud five years ago. Since then, he claims they have made 175 arrests, totaling more than $1 million in illegal benefits.
Dillon says business owners throughout Nassau have been paying higher unemployment tax rates because of individuals collecting benefits to which they were not entitled.

Keicia Duncan ,24, of Hempstead, was charged with two counts of first-degree identity threft in addition to other charges. She collected 5,054 dollars.
I was Keicia Duncan's Supervisor for at least 3 months. As a matter of fact, when she left my department, a couple of days later she got nabbed by the District Attorney. It's a damn shame! She was extremely f'able.
Have you ever been arrested or know someone who has? If so, what was the reason?
