<p>"I really think there's a pre-'02 perception of Martin Brodeur and a post-'02,'' says former goalie and current Hockey Night in Canada analyst Kelly Hrudey. "And I was as guilty of that as anyone. Salt Lake City elevated him. Before, it was kind of like 'Oh, he's playing for the New Jersey Devils. They play such great team defense. He should be winning games, should be winning Cups.' That was really unfortunate, and obviously a bit narrow-minded.</p><p>That article sums it up nicely. The above point was where I was going next. I'm the biggest Roy fan in the world, but one would be an ass not to realize Martin's the best right now. Who the fuck cares about the all-star game breakouts. Most of the time he's smiling and laughing. Hell, Roy usually didn't do so well in the challenges, but put a game on the line, both would be at the top of the league stats. No fucking doubt.</p>

<p>Fuck it, I'm doing this here.</p><p>How do you hockey fans see the Lindros trade? Lindros wasnt exactly bad, but Quebec getting all that talent has lead to cups. I see this like the Hershel Walker trade only Lindros was young and had a good carear.</p><p>Also, I've been looking for that Hextall golf swing on Nillsen from 87, but I cant find a pic. Anybody know where one is?</p>

<p>The stats on Lindros drop off badly after the 99 season. His durability is a major black mark on his legacy. </p><p>This trade made the Quebec/Colorado franchise in soo many different ways, indirect and direct. </p><p>The original trade was Lindros for Goalie Hextall, Center Mike Ricci, C Peter Forsberg, D Steve Duchesne, D Kerry Huffman, a 1993 first round pick (Jocelyn Thibault), a lot of cash and future considerations.</p><p>Those future considerations became Chris Simon and a 1st round pick in 1994 (traded to Toronto).</p><p>And by cash, it was a couple million. </p><p>Hextall was later traded for what resulted in Mark Fitzpatrick and Adam Deadmarsh. </p><p>Thibault was a huge player in the development of the Avs franchise, as he was the French-Canadian goalie Montreal was looking for in a trade for Roy. The trade was Thibault, LW Martin Ruchinsky, RW Andrei Kovalenko for Patrick Roy and RW Mike Keane. </p><p>Hence the Nordiques/Avs got Forsberg, Deadmarsh, Keane, Simon, Ricci, Duchesne, Huffman, Roy and millions for Eric Lindros. Nice job Philly!</p>

<p>I know Atlanta and Nashville have talented
teams, but those teams receive so little media coverage that sometimes
I forget that they're even in the league. It would be best for the
league to showcase a talent like that in a big media market with a
rabid fanbase. That would qualify New York, Toronto, Montreal, Detroit,
Colorado, Philly and Dallas. Failing that, maybe someplace like Chicago
(big media market, but owner is a cancer), Los Angeles (Big market,
so-so fans), New Jersey or the Islanders (big market even though
overshadowed by the Rangers), or Washington.</p><p>I'm probably
forgetting some places, but you don't want to hide someone like that,
especially when the NHL will be in such a fragile state whenever they
return.<br />

He alone can make a team a winner as a rookie. He set the Quebec Junior Hockey League on fire this year with 66 goals, 102 assists (168 points) in 62 fucking games. This is the premier league for budding stars in Canada. He ended with an unheard of +78 ranking. In the playoffs he had 14 goals, 17 assists (31 points and +11) in only 13 games. The only player to score more in this league for a season was Mario Lemeiux. Funny enough, read this "<font size="1">Wayne Gretzky told a reporter from The Arizona Republic, in answer to a question if a player may some day break some of his records: "Yes, Sidney Crosby. He's the best player I've seen since Mario (Lemieux)."" </font></p><br />

Nah, they're real close now. And like you said before, the players shot themselves in the foot. I'm really curious as to how the draft will work. They can't use the same order as last year. I'm assuming they have to use some sort of tiered lottery system. The league sure as hell will have a different feel for everyone involved now. Hell, the rangers might even win again....and save money.

The big thing is that the draft lottery and then draft is probably going to happen in late July. Teams who kept it together during the strike can probably steal some great players since this is quite a quick turnaround. Whoever gets that number one pick is one lucky fucking team, as everyone will have at least a shot to win the NBA-like draft selection. This could be one of the biggest picks to hit the NHL in quite some time, and let's hope he doesn't end up going to the Rangers. I'm sure they'd find a way to fuck him up.
