So, the final ten are...
1) Jeff Gordon (Hello, Governor McGreevey!)
2) Jimmie Johnson
3) Dale Earnhardt Jr.
4) Tony Stewart
5) Matt Kenseth (The Robot That Wins)
6) Elliot Sadler
7) Kurt Busch
8) Mark Martin
9) Jeremy Mayfield
10 ) Ryan Newman
Mayfield is even lucky to be in this - the only reason he's in is because he won last night AND Jimmie Johnson didn't finish the race. I'm kind of pissed off that Kasey Kahne and Dale Jarrett didn't qualify for the Chase, but what are you gonna do?
BTW, If you have XM, listening to a race on the radio is INSANE.
Anybody have any thoughts?

every year i get into racing with daytona and all but the season is WAY too long. maybe with this playoff system it'll make it more interesting. how are they gonna work this? only these 10 cars race during the final races? and i also read an article in the sporting news a few weeks ago that this is a way to make it easier for jr.to get a championship, especially with talladega worth more points.
and how is racing great to listen to on the radio? i don't have XM but i would imagine it would be something like,"he's going straight, now he's making a left!! now he comes out of the turn and is going straight....another left!!!! MAH GAWD KING!!!" i gotta see it to be interested. sports on radio in my opinion suck except for baseball, but sadly i'm a mets fan and their games suck on tv and radio.

Nascar is definitely a visual sport, I just implied that listening is crazy - You have four announcers at each corner of the track and two in the pits. All of them get about 10 seconds to talk before the action passes them by. It's not conversational at all.
The Chase - everyone races so those who don't qualify can make their money, but only the top 10 are in contention for the cup. Everyone in the top ten has their points re-set, so the last 10 races, every lap led, every pole, every top 10 finish is huge.
You can still win the Nextel cup w/o actually winning a race in the final 10 races, it just depends on how well you do.

The EA Sports 500 had a sick finish.
Dale Jr. jumped 10 spots in final 5 laps to win it, and the last two laps were the sickest I've ever seen in a while. Stewart made a gamble and lost, and there were multiple accidents when the white flag came out. Sadler flipped over crossing the finish line, a literal representation of what R&F were like doing two-a-days in NYC.

You do realize we're above the Mason-Dixon line, right?

*shrug*... big ratings, I have a college degree, it's fun to watch. What's the problem?
