I refuse to nominate American Gigolo on accounts that Richard Gere likes hamsters in his behind.

What's the matter with Hamster's in the behind? The only thing I could think of is that is is harder to get the little guys out cause they have only got a stub for a tail.
American Hamster (http://www.hamsterdance.com/)
I personally like American History X and American Graffitti and American beauty simply for the Thora Birch tit shot. I just wish she would have gotten naked in Ghost World. I love that girl..

God I love these threads. It's actually very very good because as I'm going down the list I'm like, DAY-UMM, there's some Good stuff!
I voted a different way. Sorry.
Gold: American History X really blew me away; on several levels, the acting, Norton's acting is Oscar Worthy [who got it instead of him?], the issues are So relevant, and addressed in a way that doesnt preach, or teach, it just shows that often, these thing end up in Death.
Silver: American Graffiti. This movie is the perfect time capsule of that time for me. More real then the way it really was, and holy shit, who in that cast DIDNT end up famous? Shee-it. And one of the greatest Soundtracks Ever.
Do you folks know what Wolfman Jack did? Easy to dis the guy in retrospect, he was part of the imus, stern, soupy ting, and by then he was already irrelevant. But do you know what he did?
They did the coolest fucking radio thing EVER. You want to talk about Fucking the FCC? They went right over the border in Mexico, and shot a 250,000 Watt AM Signal north, right at America.
WABC-AM can be herd in 38 states at night under very good conditions. Thats 50,000 watts, Huge! and this was Five times more! This is the One good thing about AM, ionospheric propagation. Meaning, more people heard him every night then O+A or Stern or Anyone could have DREAMED OF. Sure stern is syndicated up the ass, but this was One Live Show, Live Nightly; cracking a mic and literally being listened to by the majority of peeps out partying in America on a given night. and That was such a fucking cool idea.
Bronze: American Werewolf in London. Another awesome movie whos Awesomeness is tainted by the memory of a sequel. I try to block his the best I can. For us oldsters to you youngins, when this came out in theatres, the transformation swequence was talked about in words along the lines of 'Holy Fucking Shit!' They had no CGI, all makeup and latex and animatronics, I think. Great Storyline.
Tin: American Beauty. Loved It. Really Loved It. Its not aging Well. My measure is whether I'd want to watch it again. I'll watch AHX and AG or AWiL anytime, but AB? eh...

"American Splendor." Giamatti is unbelievable in that role.

"American History X" was all right. But after having seen the Australian film "Romper Stomper," and after actually knowing someone who works in the Pacific North West trying to turn skin heads around before they get into the system and become hardened and "hopeless," I found the movie a little trite and simplistic, not to mention a little disturbing - not because of the violence, but because the director went to such lengths to make the Norton character so *attractive.*
I couldn't tell if he was supposed to be a vile Nazi skin head, or an adorable homo-erotic hunk set to replace Marky Mark in those underpants ads.
Anyway...tough call between "American Movie," "American Splendor" and "American Graffitti," but I went with "Splendor," because it remains one of the best kept secrets from last year.

American Splendor - just because it is the most original movie among all "American" movies, and it's damn good!
Although the stripper scene in "American Wedding" is awesome.
