well, after a long time feeling not right (years) and not findig a way out of it, I chose to go to my primary care physician (have to, part of an HMO) this week to ask about depression and see if I suffer form it. I was wondering what does one go through? I looked at the symptoms and I do fall into many of the catigories, but I was wondering if my PCP will help me when I go in, or wil i be referred to another person?
Honestly, I don't think I need to go to a shrink, since I talk to many people already and that I feel I would be repeating myslef to the shrink, and also paying out the ass for something I did with someone else that I trust. I thikn I need medication, but that's why I'm going to the doctor
and help would be appreciated

I'm not so sure you should be doing PCP when you think you're depressed.
Look at me making the inappropriate jokes!

Theres nothing to be ashamed of. My pcp was the one who noticed it about me and recommended I go on antidepressant medication and I have been doing well since. Its a chemical imbalace that many people suffer from and while it may pay to look into stuff like Lucida Bassett's home course on it ( I got it after hearing it on the radio and its very helpfull), the medication will be good for you to take while you gain control of the problems and take the edge off. Just keep in mind that when you start taking this stuff that your kind of in it for the long haul and when and if you get to the point that you no longer take it, your going to go through a period of somewhat uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. Dont let that stop you from getting the help you need though. Good luck and your doing the right thing by looking into it.
