View Full Version : Carl Crawford over Ichiro?

A few weeks ago the Yankees played the Seattle Mariners. It was the game where Ichiro went 3-4 with a home run and two stolen bases. After the game Michael Kay said that Ichiro was the least impressive superstar in baseball and that he would rather have Carl Crawford as his leadoff guy for his ability to drive in runs. He had 4 more RBI then Ichiro at that point and was hitting about 60 points less. Since then Ichiro has gone bezerk. He's on pace to break the all-time hit record. Would Michael Kay still take Crawford? Would any of you have ever taken Crawford over Ichiro?

The real question is:

Would anyone ever take Michael Kay's opinion seriously?

Either of them on a good team would be MVP contenders. But I'd take Ichiro just for the batting average.

I think someone does, weirdly, coz I heard him on a [new?] radio show on, I think 1050 ESPN, or one of the others.

I gotta admit I liked, repeat liked, Sterling/Kay when they called NYY games on WABC before it got so rediculous. Once they almost sounded objective!

I mean come on, does Sterling put it into his wife while shouting:

"It is High..It Is Far... It is GONE..."

=

What game was it the Yanks were way up in about the sixth or seventh, and the Bosox pulled a fucking killer comeback, not more then a month ago. This shows how much I listen, but how lityle attention I actually pay.

Anyway; you could hear the other guy trying to compensate for how Sterling had this one written off as a W for the Yanks when they pulled ahead in the 6th. It was as if the game didnt matter. Hey dude, Sometimes your team loses.

And who was saying "SEEYA!" first; R+F or Kay?

Uh, no. He has become a bigger blow hard then Francesa. I liked Kay when he used to do somethings on the Knick's pre and post game shows. But he has become a complete moron know it all.

I shucked it, and I shucked it, and I shucked it, i'm quite the mother shucker

No I wouldn't take Carl Crawford over Ichiro. Ichiro has a great outfield arm and is one of if not the best leadoff hitter in the game today. It's just too bad he plays for Seattle right now. He's also probably just the best pure hitter today in baseball. Don't get me wrong Crawford is a damn good player though.

Ichiro is incredibly impressive, there is absolutely no question. But quite frankly there are alot of factors that cause people to prefer Crawford over him. First is his age, Crawford is 23 and screams potential. Meanwhile Ichiro is 30. Second is the fact that Crawford is the fastest player in the majors. Crawford has 50 stolen bases and 15 caught stealing. Ichiro has 32 stolen and 10 caught. Couple that with the fact that statistically 80 percent of Ichiro's hits are singles then yes I can see why people would want Carl Crawford.

Mothershucker, just once I wanna here him say:

"Strike Three Called!!! Ball Game Over !!! The Yankees lose!!!!... The-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e- [go get a hot dog] e-e-e-e-e Yankees LOOOOOOOOSE!!! Wow did Boston just Fuck Up The Brooklyn Bombers, the Yankees tonight are pathetic Lah-Whooo-Ahhh-Zers. We'll be back with the post game right after this, This is New York Losers Baseball..."

and can someone who knows tell me why the NY Yankees radio peeps have to have what seems like a five-segment, two hour Post Game? Seriously, is it me, or is that like a buffer for ads? I know it has real stuff and interviews, but it seems to go on forever.

The fact that Ichiro has any RBI is impressive considering that pathetic lineup.

It is during Michael its-OKay-to-suck-Yankee-cock's abortion of a show that I tune away from ESPN Radio and tune to the FAN. Everybody else on ESPN is ok in my book, but his show is like listening to Cocksuckers 17: Attack of the Vaccumfaces
