Out-of-state cars

Anyone else notice a huge amount of out-of-state cars on the road the past day or so? Im seeing cars from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico etc. I was at a light tonite and saw 3 cars in a row from 3 different states..states far away from NY I mean. I see Jersey plates all the time, but rarely see a California plate. Im wondering if its connected with teh Convention or something...but these all seem to be on Long Island and most were heading out East. Its weird.

maybe they are rent a cars. I was just in arizona and rented a car and it had california plates.

Im in NY on Long Island. I was at a light last night and in front of me was a car from Arizona and next to him was a car from Texas and behind him was a Colorado. Then, I began noticing that they didnt have plates in the front, and later on, when I was heading West, I was seeing cars with no front plate and when I looked at the back of the car as it passed, it was an out of state car. And I mean a lot of them, maybe over 100 that I saw. I just never saw so many in the course of one day on L.I.
They werent all grouped together or anything, except those first 3, and I think that was by chance. Keep your eye out if you see more than usual. Im thinking that its connected to the convention and maybe there is a gathering somewhere out East, or people are just heading out there for the holiday weekend or whatever.

That is indeed weird SR71 [can I call ya YF-18, sometime?] coz I notced a lot more NY tags on the roads down here lately.

I'm assuming it's the big weekend; or the people down south know that the Mars Attacks! people have landed and they are all moving north and being really secretive about it.

I was hanging out with Joe err SR71 last night and I was thinking that perhaps some of the people decided to take the ferry from either Port Jeff or Greenport to get to the interstate and they're taking the scenic route.

Except that if I was coming from Texas or CA or whatever, I probably wouldn't want to deal with holiday traffic heading east just to take the ferry north to have to drive south and depending on my route (eg taking 95) deal with all the city traffic again....

I agree TC. But I was trying to think of if these people were trying to go somewhere other than the Hamptons.

Also, wasn't there a sporting event going on here at the same time? One of the US Opens? I'm not sure because I haven't kept up with sports of late but I could've sworn I did hear someone on the news say something about how the convention is here at the same time that one of the US Opens.

Even weirder than that, when I drove in to NY from Nashville, my car had TN plates. It's sooo crazy!

Gosh, can't I go ANYWHERE without someone spotting me.


I made that drive once and I don't want to do it again. My poor mom, I made her drive a lot more than me, I couldn't take it.

We were so scared driving with out of state plates in the south, we were on cruise control the whole time. We decided we weren't even going to stop in Mississippi. It's a time warp there. Scary.
