On 92.3 they are beginning to play mash music where they combine rap with hard rock. I heard one where they combined Closer by NIN with 50 cent's In da Club. What a friggin travesty. That marble mouth bastard should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Trent Reznor. Lets hope this crap doesn't catch on

Uhm, you're a little too late...

"Mash-ups," "bootlegs," or "white label remixes," have been HUGE all over Europe and in American clubs for almost two years now. One of the biggest albums of last year was an underground mixing of Jay-Z's "The Black Album" with the Beatles' "White Album," by DJ Dangermouse. The only reason you haven't been hearing these on the radio more often is they're illegal as hell and draw lawsuits from the record labels left and right.

Lighten up. They're just meant to be "club bangers" and to get people to dance. It's all in good fun. You get weird stuff like Destiny's Child vs. Nirvana or Pink vs. The Stooges or New Order vs. Kylie Minogue. They're entertaining as hell.

These two albums are a good place to start, though they're completely illegal and can only be found on sites like GEMM.com. (http://gemm.com)

The holy grail of bootlegs has got to be the site Boom Selection. (http://www.boomselection.info/) A couple years ago, the guy that runs the site put out a MASSIVE CD collection of about all the "mash-ups" out there at the time, and I managed to snag one before legal troubles shut the offer down, and it's AWESOME. If anyone wants a copy, e-mail me. It's on two discs, but it's all MP3's, not playable on stereos. But there are HUNDREDS of these bootlegs on there, and it's great. Just send me a couple of the right kind of CD's and I'll happily burn a copy for anyone out there.
