we derailed the nook thread too much...
so to catch up: Loeb is a hack. The stories are pretty good.
Mojo, after Crisis, Batman's origin went back to not knowing, then went to being Napier in 1989 then went back to being Chill. At least that's what I thought. Latest issue of Batman Adventures has made Joe Chill the killer in the old animated continuity (then killed him), but it's the final issue as that continuity is complete history with the advent of the new Batman cartoon.
As for Loeb, I really got into Long Halloween, until the end. The ending was just so weak it killed the whole story for me. But I've read elsewhere that since he's originally a tv writer, all the inconsistencies that would work with tv are what kill his stories because the reader can always go back a few pages and reread any confusion and/or inconsistencies.

Loeb is a hack.
I agree. After she left the Nine Stories, she pretty much went all downhill.

Dude, there's lots of fat people who read comics, so it would kinda be like a food forum.

I don't quite know what you mean by that, but nevertheless, I am offended.

Since we're talking about Loeb, might I add that I think his "Hush" storyline in Batman was really overrated. It was, without a doubt, one of the most UNDERwhelming "major comic events" of the past few years. The only good thing it really gave us was the new villain Hush, who would be pretty badass if you could look past his nonsensical origins, and of course one cannot.
As for the Superman / Batman comic, I must admit to liking McGuinness' art more than Michael Turner's. Yeah, I said it. Give me the more cartoony look.

Hush was ok, but the multiple endings were silly. It was Lee's art that made it all worthwhile.
I'm not a fan of the whole 90s Marvel/Image art style. I prefer more realistic art to that cheesecake style. As long as it's a good story that is accentuaed by the art, I'm happy.
