What did you think of "Digital Fortress"?
I just read it a couple of weeks ago (after having read Code and his "Angels and Demons".
I found that in Fortress he clearly hadn't found his stride as far as pacing and Character interaction. Brown tends to repeat information back to the reader 2 or 3 times during the course of his books, but in this one I felt he was beating me over the head with items that were already obvious.
He also doesn't seem to do well when dealing with how character's should act when in love. Something he cleverly avoided in the latter two books.

I'm not much of a reader but when I read the first 10 pages, I was hooked. DB did a fantistic job. The twists and turns were extremely clever. The only thing I did not like was the ending. He could've thought of something better. But what do I know.

The only real problem I had with Angels and Demons, Da Vinci Code and Digital Fortress is that all three are essentially the same book in 3 different variations. It's a lot like the book version of the Lethal Weapon movies.
Angels and Demons I liked best for the mixing of ancient and science fiction (akin perhaps to Jurassic Park), and Da Vinci Code for being tied so close to real places and people. Digital Fortress is a book begging to be turned into a movie.

There are several books on the floor next to my bed in various stages of completion, any one of which I will pick up on any given night to read before I go sleepy night night.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire both of which I've read a severality of times.
Letters from a Nut Which is friggin' hilarious!
The Templar Revelation which springboarded from reading The DaVinci Code.
A Game of Thrones which is supposed to be a great series, but I'm really struggling to get into. It does come highly recommended, so I'm gonna keep chugging through.
How to Think Like Leonardo DaVinci if you're gonna learn from someone, may as well be the best ever.
and
To be the Man which I finished, but is still on the floor.

I want to congratulate the posters in this thread for not breaking out a cliched choice like Vonnegut or Kesey or Faulkner to show how much of an "intellectual" you are.
What I just finished: "A Child Across the Sky" by Jonathan Carroll. Started off very intriguing, sort of diminished from there, and the ending was rather depressing and somewhat ambiguous.
Next, I'll probably opt for a horror novel, probably "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson or "The Stake" by Richard Laymon.
I just finished reading 'The Decameron' by Giovanni Boccaccio.
What a baudy little monkey you are.
Spicy, how've you enjoyed the Superman/Batman title? I just recently downloaded the first two story arcs, and found them quite entertaining.

I read Digital Fortress a couple months ago. It was fairly entertaining, but fairly predictable. Typical movie fodder. Like a Crichton novel.
I picked up the first Superman/Batman hardcover and everytime I read something by Jeph Loeb, I feel more and more that he's a hack. He had to alter Batman's origin just to bring the story together. Somehow, all Batman stories went back to Joe Chill killing the Waynes, except S/B, where suddenly John Corbin was the killer.

The Joe Chill aspect of Batman's origin was only pre-Crisis. After that, the kick was Batman could never know who killed his parents, and that's what always haunted him the most. Giving the guy an identity again is retarded.
And Loeb IS a hack. He was Liefeld's go-to writer after he got the boot from Image, so that should have made it obvious from the beginning. I DO like the "retro" stuff he does with Tim Sale for Marvel and DC, but that's it. His series work always has been, and always will be, the suck.

And personally, I think more times than not Loeb is a hack. I am enjoying the new S/B series, though, although they've even further convoluted the entire Supergirl thing (this is what? Like the fifth Supergirl?!?). It's a guilty pleasure I suppose.

Wow! That's Bobby Heenan! I knew he'd been sick, but hadn't seen how much he changed.

I read the Heenan book, actually met him at a book signing. He was very cool, never broke character, weasle till the end. The book is also pretty good; one of the better books by wrestlers I've read.

Spicy, how've you enjoyed the Superman/Batman title? I just recently downloaded the first two story arcs, and found them quite entertaining.
I like it a lot. I've always enjoyed Jim Lee's versions of Superman and Batman, I just wish that the last arc wasn't a way to relaunch Supergirl.

This summer I'm going wire to wire on Ian Rankin's novels, along with Carl Hiassen's Skinny Dip, Mary Roach's Stiff: The Real Lives of Human Cadavers, and Roy Jenkins' Churchill bio. Oh, and I just finished Bangkok 8 by John Burdett.

I'm re-reading The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Isle Witch by Terry Brooks then I plan to read the other 2 Voyage of Jerle Shannara books before moving onto the High Druid of Shannara series.
I'm a geek for fantasy novels like this.

I read the first 3 Shannara books back in college. They were entertaining, but I dunno if I'll ever go back and read any Terry Brooks again.
