...joins in a few brewski's with his fellow bears. This story is a pisser....and the way they caught the bear was too funny...after they shaved him down, he wound up looking like this..... (http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/West/08/18/bear.beer.reut/index.html)

"What did he want???"
"What do all men want Phillip?"
"He wants you to dress up like Wonder Woman, tie him up with your golden lariat and force him to tell the truth?????"

Even the bear wouldn't drink the Busch.

He's got taste.

I saw that and was at first like, huh? why is this making the news? Not sounding haughty [yeah right] but I spent a little time in the Rockies and anyone who lives there knows if you don't nail it down, the bears are gonna get it. My cousin's place and all the neighbors have to put the garbage cans in a locked box so the garbage men get them before the bears. My brother stayed in literally a Unabomber sized shack on the grounds; the bears broke in easily if you spaced the lock, or didnt reinforce the windows.

Advice from my brother; who worked moutain rescue for rocky mountain national park: if yer hiking in Bear territory, just make some noise while yer walking. The bear does not wanna fuck with you; and will bolt upon hearing you; the shit happens when someone startles a bear.

Gee Mike, really?

Anyway; I grill my Brother, "what about the rabid, human flesh loving Bears huh? Making Noise? Thats like splashing the water for Sharks, Bro! Nuh-Uh!!!"

I was in Colorado last week, staying in a house by Aspen. About 6:30 AM, there's a ringing of the bells on the door, and a bit of a ruckus in the kitchen. Figure it's someone who's up early getting ready for fishing. Get up at 7 AM, head down... and there's trash everywhere. Check the doors... both open... and there are nose and paw smudges all over the inside of the inside door. Yep, a bear came by, opened both doors (the handles were levers, not knobs) rummaged around a bit and left. It didn't eat any of the chicken, the bread, anything... just some nuts that had been in the bottom of the garbage, and it investigated a bag of coffee a bit. The jingling was clearly from him trying to pull the inside door open so he could get out. We started locking the front door in addition to closing it after that!!

That said, starting next year, it looks like the DEC is going to require all backpackers in the Adirondaks to carry a bear cannister. Much better way to store your food than hanging it in a tree, but damn they're expensive. On the other hand, it's better than having what happened to my friend happen to you - we were out backpacking (and fishing) in Montana in the Bob Marshall wilderness area... she wakes up to see that a bear has torn a big hole right into the side of her tent. She screamed, the bear ran away, and the tent was repaired with duct tape. End of story but man it could have been worse if that had been a sow with cubs!

reminds me of one of them animal shows i saw on tv. the fruit from this tree had fallen all and over time it began to ferment. the monkeys that ate it were tripping and falling on their faces and the giraffes could barely walk or stand...
