OK, i know that a thread was started for the video game NCAA 2005, but this thread is for the season that is played by humans in pads on saturdays.

So here we go!

The ACC is rediculously competitive this year, even without the additions of Miami an VaTech.

Fla. State, Miami, maybe possibly somehow VaTech and Clemson are all legitimate contendors for the title, while MD and VA could be huge spoilers.

Georiga Tech and Wake Forest have been on the verge of being pretty damn good for a few years now and it'll be interesting to see how they play.

UNC does not have a ton of talent, but they still continually underperform. If they have another season that remotely resembles last year, John Bunting should be fired.

Duke. Wow, Duke. Where to start? Uhhhh, they have one of the best, and I mean best pocket QBs in the country. Except that he might not play because he wants to focus on basketball. But hey, thats what Duke football is all about.


Oh yeah, Aggie, A&M is gonna catch a beat down. Just wait.

Too bad my dad (who isn't even an Aggie) hogs all the season tickets. I only go to one game a year now but I watch or listen to them all.

I know there are some other tough conferences but I think the Big XII is arguably one of the hardest in the nation. I love my Aggies no matter what but Franchione won't let us down.

As much as i hate to admit it, your may be right Mudo. The last few years, Maryland has been the only team that Clemson hasnt beaten in the ACC. But I really like our chances this year, just as long as our recievers stay healthy.

Clemson has a really tough sked this year Dave....I think they have to play in Tallahasse, Miami, and Charlottesville...three really tough places to play...

My Terps don't have it easy either...we've got FSU at home and don't have to play Miami, but we've got to go to Clemson, play FSU at home, then go to Charlottesville and Blacksburg all in a row....Man is the ACC tough this year!! NC State is real good too defensively, although they dont have Rivers anymore..

And whenever the name Philip Rivers is mentioned around me, I'll always follow it up with "He never beat Maryland"

Can't wait till this Saturday!! Season starts...Va Tech and USC...in DC...gonna be a great game...I'm interested to see USC, Carroll says this was the year they were shooting for to be really really good. For as good as they looked at the end of last year, its hard to believe their Pass D was ranked 110th in the country, but I guess people had to throw on them...they were only giving up 1.9 yards a carry. I'm also interested in seeing Tech. Bryan Randall is a pretty good QB...but i dont think theyll adjust very well after losing guys like Kevin Jones(NFL) and Marcus Vick(abject stupidity)

I guess I'll have to root for Va Tech.....ACC pride over the Pussy Pac Ten...

ESPN is doing something really cool tomorrow. During the game on ESPN2 they will be taking a live look behind the scenes of everything...from the "spotters" to how the sideline reporters do their job to what goes on during commerical breaks...i may have to check that out..

Wow that was awful. I have nothing to say in defense of my team. The way they played they deserved it. And those fucking receivers. They have been getting progressively worse and worse. Week one they dropped a few passes, but they caught them when it counted. Week 2, they dropped the big passes, and really shot themselves in the foot. Tonight, they dropped tons of passes and tipped 2 or 3 right to the secondary. ASSHOLES!!!!!

And UNC, one of the worst, if not THE worst team in the ACC whooped GA Tech, the team that beat us last week. Fuckers.

Actually Dave...its gotten to the point where I don't even watch the NFL any more unless the Raiders are playing...seriously...

The NFL is such a coaches game...the Defences and offences are so good they cancel each other out and make for some super boring games...

In college they have so many different and fun teams to watch. You have teams like Hawaii and Texas Tech that throw the ball 200 times a game...and teams that power run and option attack...IMO its more fun to watch the NFL....

I hear what your sayin, but I must disagree. The players are soooooo good, even the scrubs, that its so awesome to see these guys playing at such a high level.

College Football can get very frustrating, when recievers drop crucial balls and such. Not that this doesnt happen in the NFL, but especially the last two weeks in Clemson, it happens way way too much.

The other thing I like about the NFL is the parity. It really blows when your team is awesome one year and it blows the next. But if your team is an underdog, you still have a legitimate chance. Well, ususally.

In CFB, it happens, and it happens a handful of times a year, but you can still guarantee that Miami is going to ass rape Rutgers if they play.


All that said, I absolutely love College football and theres no way I could live without it. I just like the NFL more.

And I've heard people talk and talk and talk about their offensive line, but I'm sorry, those guys aren't that good. Every play they allow penetration and look lazy and out of shape.

Conference play starts this weekend in the Big Ten. We've got an interesting game playing a team that would run every play if they could (and yet has NFL-quality recievers on it's team every year who get to practice their blocking). And all our fans are convinced that team can run right up the middle. So we shall see what happens.

I would say West Virginia is...they're the "it" pick to go to the Nat'l title game(cause them and USC are the only two teams in the top ten that don't play each other) and the Big East is lamer than FDR's legs

But they shoulda beat my Terps by 30, instead of barely winning in OT(Novak missed a 50 at the end of Regulation that woulda won the game)

I think they will stumble at some point....if not to Va Tech, then this week against 'Cuse i look for them to have a letdown game after they got themselves so geeked up about last week

I disagree, winning the MD game was a big hurdle for WV. I think the most challenging game left on their scheduled is the backyard brawl. Rivalry games are always the most fun, and the hardest to predict. Sometime it seems the worse team wins those game more often the better team. I wouldn't be surpised if they don't make the Championship game because of strength of schedule.

Gameday is reporting live from our game so everyone is stirred up about the what people have been saying. Colin Cowherd did a whole segment on us yesterday, and not a single bit of it was positive. It's hard to be a fan, but i'm going to quietly support that team and the coach. I swear we have some players, some leaders, and things will turn around soon.

I'm trying to say that WVU really didn't impress me at all in their game against us....

My Terps played like poo poo, turned the ball over a load of times, and we still almost won the game...and we're not really that good(at least this year)

They shoulda been up by 30 at the half, and killed us, but they didn't....

I still believe they will stumble at some point this season, none of their WR's really scare me, and when teams start putting 8 and 9 guys in the box to stop Kay Jay and Rasheed, they're going to be in trouble, cause i think you can man up their WR's with impunity....They do have some potential letdown games with the teams they have left to play in the Big East, Syracuse(who i thought they played this week instead of wimpy James Madison), BC is ALWAYS dangerous, Va Tech, and even though they lost to Furman to-day....Pitt(who you mentioned)

My team played two ranked teams on the road and lost to both. Although our defense is easily one of the best in the conference, if not in the country. We play our third ranked team at home this week, but probably the best offense we've faced. Gonna be and interesting game...

I'm not talking any smack....my Terps have been TERRIBLE the last couple weeks...our D has been money, but our offence hasn't put 100 total yards on the board in three weeks...i think last week States and Steffy combined for like 30 yards TOTAL....ugh...but our O line is banged up too...Stephon messed up his knee against the wolfpack, and Schmitty's got a concussion, and i think there are more injuries on the line as well....

I assume Fridge'll start States in Death Valley...but you'll prolly see Steffy at some point....it just depends on how the game goes......I wonder if he might throw Mitchy or Hollenbach out there...but i doubt it....States and Steffy are the guys...

Its going to be a long year in Terptown..but we'll get better....we have 43 Freshmen...i remember years ago when 5-6 used to be a banner year in College Park....but thats how far the program has come the last few years....

We'll definitely beat Baylor, but we have a really tough last 3 games. Texas Tech, OU and Texas. We HAVE to win one of those and I think if we play great and everything goes our way we can.

All three major Florida teams ended up losing last Saturday... the first time that's happened since 1978! Congrats to the Terps for knocking off Florida State.

I thought Ron Zook got a raw deal at Florida, and was actually pulling for them to upset Georgia... but in retrospect, it would be better for Auburn if Georgia is highly ranked if/when Auburn wins in two weeks over UGA at home.

Well the BCS rankings are out, and Auburn is still 3rd behind USC and OU.

Aggie - Y'all can still save your season, and do me a big favor if you can get your boys to lay the wood to the Sooners this Saturday! I remember watching the game a couple of years ago when A&M nutted up and knocked off #1 ranked OU.

Auburn is off, so I'll be the biggest A&M fan east of Texas on Saturday! (Even though I still have no use for Francione... oh well)

I think there's a lot of football to be played, and the chances of 3 teams ending up undefeated is slim to none, espically with the conferences championship games in the Big XII and SEC. The BCS usually winds up playing a role in the end with 1 win teams, and that's almost always the contraversy. Win em all and you'll be fine.

In other news my team will not be making a bowl this year (4th time in the last 5 years, pathetic). So i'm shifting a lot of support to my favorite little guys--Boise State and Utah.

Love that blue turf. Go Broncos. And Urban Meyer might be the next head coach for the Nits. So I've got that at least.

I still think things are going to work out. Auburn needs to worry about winning 2 more games before they start worrying about other teams losing. If they win out, I think things will take care of themselves if they do.

Damn, I was wrong about things working out for Auburn.



But on another topic Derrick Williams, considered by some to be the top recruit in the nation, just commited to The Nittany Lions. In that past i've been one of the more obnoxious Penn State fans, but recently I haven't had much reason to be. But now we've got the top wide receiver and top cornerback prospect in the nation, so things are looking up. Of course, now that he has commed to PSU, he will no longer be the top recruit in the nation, that's just how things work.
