How many dates should people go on before becoming a couple?

I ask because I am currently together with a girl after only one date and now I'm going to have to go through the unpleasant task of dumping her. Not good, but it's a lesson I guess.

When you are 15 or 16 and you treat a girl real nice, that wears off in about 4 minutes and they think you are a pussy. treat them like shit and 99/100 times it will work. this plan goes well until about sophmore year in college. then you need to revise your game for the more mature chicks. basically you will need money and nice car. 6 pack abs can make up for lack of either.

I always thought I was the nice guy who was going to ride in and save these girls from their bad relationships or treat them right for the first time. There were a couple of revelations however. 1. I agree, but at least Guy 2 got a night with her. Guy 1, who is a better (at least more "real") guy, gets nothing out of it. I'm not saying it's right, but it happens. As for holding on to her, if she's interested in Guy 2 because she thinks he has cash, is she all that much to hold onto anyway?

I'd just like to say that this isn't incredibly idealistic. I'd have to say the type of relationship that Keithy is looking for is not one where he doesn't respect his girlfriend so this is completely justified.

And maybe that statement about going too fast was incredibly exaggerated but you can't really bash the guy for wanting to take it slow or even really slow. There IS the equivalent chick. She might even be a percent of a percent, but she exists. I think that's the only thing that i'd say he has to realize. His Mrs. Right (I feel like Jimmy Norton should spit in my face for writing that) might be in the minority, but giving him advice contrary to that will just make him the type of loser who spends his time either loathing himself or sitting at home on a message board all night. :)

I guess this topic just jumped out at me, so i'm sorry for maybe souring the comedy, but as i think i've said before, I think there is like an exact 50% of Keithy's posts that I agree with. Maybe Keithy reminds me of a politically brainwashed me, but I think this kid's got moxy.

Keithy, I know how you feel. I've gone through that situation time and time again. The only thing I can tell you is that nice guys do finish last, all you have to do is be patient. A week ago at Freshman Orientation for college, I ran into the girl of my dreams. We talked, we hung out, and we got to know each other. We've been hanging out a lot since then and last night, I got to kiss her for the first time as I dropped her off at her dorm. I'm telling you it may suck now, but honestly, there are a lot of girls looking for a guy like you. As long as you carry yourself with a little more confidence, you will find that perfect girl.

I believe things happen for a reason. You may not want to believe it, but she may not be the one for you. I'm living proof that nice guys finish last.
