U.S. intelligence officials say a high-profile political assassination, triggered by the public release of a new message from Osama bin Laden, will lead off the next major al Qaeda terrorist attack



The planning for the attacks to follow involves "multiple targets in multiple venues" across the United States, one official said.
The new details of al Qaeda's plans were found on a laptop computer

With all this crap about different kinds of al Qaeda attacks we're hearing about lately from attacks on institutions in NY, NJ and DC, as well as Las Vegas, and different cities, and now the talk of a planned major assassination it's getting me to wonder if perhaps they're (al Qaeda) are leaving decoy clues all over the place to get our intelligence all running around like crazy trying to figure everything out between now and election day. Meanwhile something completely different may be going on to catch us by surprise. For a while we really didn't seem to be getting anywhere, and now there's a slew of information flowing from various captured individuals, and their laptops, video tapes and other things. It's just odd to me.

You could be right...disinformation is a tool of the intelligence community...including theirs..they're masters at it....I guess we have to look at all angles!

Assasinations are really scary shit. They can come in just a second with no warning. I could imagine that the other terrorist threats could be decoys (ie: the terrorists know that the FBI is tapping a certain phone line), but stuff that came off the laptop of someone who's captured is different. This stuff probably wasn't planted as a decoy.

But, when you think about it, the last major assasination attempt was back with Reagan in the 80s and since that day anything further has been provented.

Well, there were four attempts on Clinton, but none of them were as serious as what happened to Reagan. Two seperate guys on two different occasions pulled out guns and started shooting at the White House from the fence, another actually climbed the fence and charged the House with a knife, and a fourth crashed his small plane into the White House itself.

Clinton and his family were only home for the plane crash, and on the opposite side of the building.
