Yeah, I just heard about that.

I met her about 8 years ago when I worked at the Kennedy Center. She was so cool - very funny, smart and sharp. We talked a little bit, and later I kicked myself for not having had a chance to talk to her about one of the coolest movies of all time - Erich von Stroheim's "The Wedding March," which I think was her first movie.

The movie was famous for a number of reasons. It was actually shut down during production because the cost had gone too high (over a million dollars). Supposedly, the rumor afterwards was that Stroheim and cast and crew spent the last few days locked in an elaborate brothel set, with drinking and screwing going on for 3 days straight, only stopping when someone dropped dead.

Not sure if this was true - and, like I said, I would have loved to have asked her.

Very tiny woman; she was in town for a screening of KING KONG on a very icy and cold February evening. She talked for about an hour to the people there about making KONG, and the rest of her career. The talk centered mostly on 1930s Hollywood, and eventually she talked about being invited by Speilberg to the set of JURASSIC PARK, where they gave her her credit.

Wish she could have lived to have seen the new version of KONG.

I had no idea she was still alive this whole time.

She was one of two ladies I had to keep reminding myself was still in the running in the celeb death pool 'actress' category.

-

King Kong, like The Wizard of Oz, scared the utter Piss outta me the first time I saw it. One of my vivid childhood nightmares, burned into my dna so bad i can recall it at will like i just woke up, was a variation on the scene where Kong rolls those dudes off the log and they just get flung and fall to their deaths.

I'm pretty sure the King Kong most of us see is sorta censored. There were scenes of people, live actors, getting chewed up in Kongs mouth in close-up, and a segment with a valley of spiders, and something else, and i have no idea how correct any of this is, so anyone step in here... I've seen the close-ups of the people eating; but not the spider things.

-

And Curtoid Cool Story. By Kennedy Center, I'm assuming you dont mean the Space Place, but the DC place? Yes I'm that naive been to DC dozens of times but never to that hall. Looks pretty cool, the insides.

OK: Experiment, here's the other actress I Always gotta remember is still alive:

Shirley Temple

OK Truth: did you know she's still kicking? Dry? Oh my God the Sahara of Dry.

Whatever happened to Fay Wray
That delicate satin draped frame
As it clung to her thigh
How I started to cry
Cause I wanted to be dressed just the same
Give yourself over to absolute pleasure
Swim the warm waters
Of sins of the flesh
Erotic nightmares beyond any measure
And sensual day-dreams
To treasure forever
Can't you just see it
Whoa-ho ohhh

Don't dream it, be it
Don't dream it, be it

LOL!

What's funny is that is how a whole generation of people remember Fay Wray. Hell, every weekend in the spring of 1985 I was down at the classic Key Theatre in Georgetown getting drunk and stoned and doing the time warp! The best times!!!

I actually think Fay was a gay icon, of a lesser degree, like a lot of those starlets.
