This is not spam, I am not affiliated with XM or the site I referenced. Mikeyboy said it was ok to post this. Any O&A fans who are looking for XM radios go to www.slickdeals.net and check out the deal from XM. It is the Delphi Xm Roady for $50.00.

So what exactly is XM radio??? Is the $50.00 thing a one time shot??? Or do you have to pay monthly or something like that??

It's Satellite radio. You pay about 0.00 a month for all digital stations. Not regulated by the FCC. Opie and Anthony just signed with XM and will go live on 10/4/04. They have channels for all type of music, news, sports and now Shock Talk.

Just to clarify, It's $10.00 a month, and an additional $1.99 a month if you want the Opie and Anthony station.

I meant to say 10.00 a month. I was asked a question, I am pointing out the pros. I am just trying to point out a good deal to anyone who is interested. I am a longtime fan of Ron & Fez BECAUSE of Opie and Anthony. Opie and Anthony still give props to Ron & Fez, goto www.opieanthony.com read the flashing banner. They say Talk radio is boring.... except for Ron and Fez of course.

AG- If you have the Roady, you don't need the Boom Box (which is for the SkyFi anyway) unless you want to listen out in the backyard or at the beach or something...

No.
The Roady plugs into your stereo.

There's also the Roady2 that will broadcast to an FM station for you to pick up with an exisiting radio.

How does that work. I have a radio at work, am/fm. I need a radio that can be used with headphones. I am seriously contemplating getting xm. I don't drive to work, I commute by train so I would listen to the repeats.

CruelCircus

You know, that's a good question.
I assume that technically the Roady2 could just as easily stream to a walkman as it could to a stereo or radio- an FM frequency is an FM frequency.
I did read an online review at Amazon from a guy who said he was able to plug headphones straight into his Roady and use it like a walkman, but he was on a motorcycle, not indoors anywhere.

I guess you cant really make this thing into a walkman since it needs that antenna

[color=purple]Warning: if you don't wanna read the whole story, cut to the chase eith the last 3 paragraphs.

I've got some road trips coming up, so I figured this week was as good a time as any to take the XM plunge.

I went to Best Buy, which doesn't carry the Roady 2 yet, but does stock the Roady 1... theoretically. I say that because I went to the Hartsdale store on Saturday, checked out the XM booth and saw that they had the Roady and the Delphi XM SKYFi for a 100 bucks (MSRP on the Rady, btw, is $130.00).

Coolness, I thought, but 1st let me take a tide down the road and see what Circuit City and PC Richards can do for me. Most notably I wanted installation that very day and Best Buy was all booked up.

Anyway, long story short, I ended up going back to Best Buy only to have the guy who was helping me earlier tell me he had just sold the last unit. We then checked the computer and called around, only to find that all the regional Best Buys were sold out of the Roady. Apparently, people are opting for that over the SKYFi and XM-Commander (even though MSRP on the Commander is $159.00 and Circuit City sells it for 100-something dollars).

That's where the point to this whole post comes in. I called up BestBuy.com and not only do they have immediate stock on the Roady 1, but they also throw in a free FM Modulator (in the stock version, the Roady 1 runs through your vehicle's cassette player, while the Roady 2 transmits through the radio on a lower frequency channel... With the free Modulator, you're basically getting the Roady 2 for the cost of the Roady 1, a savings of 30 ducks).

And XMradio.com further sweetens the pot with this deal (http://www.xmradio.com/offers/roady_homekit.html), which allows you to listen from home too.

Just a heads up, if you plan on doing XM radio, this seems the be the best way to do it. Also, when you call XM to register, make sure you mention that you heard they're waving the activation fee for those who subscribe to XM 202, the new O&A stream.

Class dismissed.

Not regulated by the FCC.

Someday someone will explain to me how the 'FCC doesn't/can't/won't regulate Satellite' legend got started.

They've regulated it since birth, wrote the broadcast rules for satellite, and regulate it now.

Isn't the "free trial" period over? Perhaps XM made a mistake and took it away from you. I have to go in my car and check to see if that happened to mine as well. I shall let you know later.

I had the same problem a little while ago. I think it was mostly a technical glitch. The shows back on now.

On an up note I got my new WOW sticker and O&A keychain at the sticker stop in Melville today. Which I somehow got quicker than the one I ordered online weeks ago.
