Just heard it on the FAN. Damn. I grew up on Happy Recaps. Bye-Bye Murph. He was 79 and had lung cancer.

Hall of Fame page. (http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/hofers_and_honorees/frick_bios/murphy_bob.htm)

RIP. I always enjoyed listening to him. Murphy, Ralph Kiner and Lindsay Nelson were the voices of my youth.

i'd love to listen to the radio to hear the eulogies, but i cannot stand everyone doing just awful impressions of him ...

their stories are moving enough without the schtik ...

Dammit, guys. This guy was the best announcer EVER. In his later years you kinda felt bad for the guy... all he did was cough. But every single great moment in Mets' history, this guy was there to call it. His family is in my thoughts.
