A tumor, though benign, is recognized as an abnormality by the immune system. Thus causing Jason's body to create antibodies to fight the foreign body. This "battle" combined with the parisitic infection, would explain the energy drain and fatigue that would become very noticeable in any athlete, like Jason.

Tumors, particularly liver and kidney are a common side effect of steroid use...hmmmm
I wish him a speedy recovery and all, but the cynic in me has to ask that question.

Steroid withdrawal symptoms can mimic many other medical problems. Weakness, fatigue, decreased appetite, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which can lead to fluid and electrolyte abnormalities), and abdominal pain are common. Blood pressure can become too low, leading to dizziness or fainting. Blood sugar levels may drop. Women also may note menstrual changes. Less often, joint pain, muscle aches, fever, mental changes, or elevations of calcium may be noted. Decrease in gastrointestinal contractions can occur, leading to dilation of the intestine

Tumors, cysts, boils, bumps: we get em, usually its nothing, but like someone else mentioned, often even a benign tumor is a sign of something more significant, but with all of this, its a person by person thang.

Teacher: Timmy, can you use the word 'benign' in a sentence?
Timmy: 'I'm eight now, and next year i'll benign.'
