I'm thinking about getting out of my current line of work (Nursing) I have a bachelor of criminal science amd a master of sociolgy degree...I'm seriously considering going into the teaching field....preferably the college level...I know that there are many teachers on the board. Does anybody have any tips on what courses I could follow? I was looking into Lehman college in the bronx !

where did you go to school ? and what do you recommend for someone who has the credits but not the experience?

Since you have a masters in sociology, I believe you can teach intro. soc. courses at a community college, which will give you teaching experience. I don't have my masters yet, but a friend is teaching history at a community college with a masters in social work.

Also, there are certain PhD programs that allow students to work as Teacher's Assistants while they are studying.

I've been thinking about getting into teaching too. This is what I've found.

Even with a Master's it's hard to get a teaching job in college. You can probably work as an adjunct (1 or 2 classes) until you get some credentials (more courses, a published paper, etc.) You have alot of experience so that helps. Adjuncts make shit money, btw. Most adjuncts works at several different schools.
