Yeah, Smithers is too obvious. But I wouldn't rule it out, either. It would ruin the great innuendo with Burns and Smithers, although that could be played out.

I think Lenny is also pretty likely. They've been doing a lot of innuendo lately, like Mt. Carlmore.

It could be ANYONE. The Simpsons has been running homosexual storylines for YEARS.

They've made several inferences that Millhouse is in love with Bart. In fact...Millhouse almost confessed it once. Once.

Homer has admitted to having a homosexual side to his personality several times.

Patty & Selma marched (incognito) at a gay-pride parade. So did Smithers.

Also....it could be Skinner. All those years of being smothered by "Mother". Or maybe the writers will bring back Homers gay assistant. Or John Waters.

I would love to see Groundskeeper Willy play for the other team. It would be funny if he added a little gay-tinge to his Scotish accent.

And Patty is the twin who doesn't like to be 'touched,' and it was only one of them in the gay pride parade, so it was her. Selma has been married a lot and has wanted a baby--her name is Selma Bouvier Terwiliger Hutz McLure. (The Hutz marrige is never shown, and this is the only time it's mentioned, I believe)

Actually, listening to the commentaries on the seasons that have been released on DVD, the writers do take some pretty impressive efforts to maintain continuity in the show's "universe," no matter how bizarre it gets. Picking someone like Moe or Barney (a match made in heaven?) to be gay would fit much easier into the bigger scheme of things.

Okay, I just watched it (thank you TiVo). It wasn't consistent, but there were definitely points that made me laugh, and I enjoyed it. The problem is that the measuring stick is against itself, and not the rest of television. If this episode had aired during the first three seasons of the show, it would have been considered great.

First one of the episodes where Selma is looking for a husband and Homer says "I thought she didn't like being touched?" and Marge replies "No that was Patty. Selma had celebacy forced upon her."

Secondly was the episode with the Gay Pride parade, where there a float that was a tribute to people who were still in the closet. Two arms are coming from the closet, and two voices speak: First (obviously Smithers) We're Gay, Second voice (it can be resonably deduced that it's Patty due to it being one of Marge's sisters, and Selma has been married a bunch of times) We're Glad. (together) Just don't tell mom and dad.

Funny, but not worth all the build up. I was expecting a much funnier episode and a better character...
