My take on The Bourne Identity : http://www.browntownjohnny.com/modu...op=show&rid=120
Producer Frank Marshall did a really bang up job on The Bourne Identity for keeping the focus on Matt Damon's character and making the audience care where he will go and how he does it. He has kept his promise to make the series of Bourne films as focused. "The Bourne Supremacy" is not as fresh as it's original base movie but it still has the fast and relentless style that I love so much.
The direct sequel takes place a few years after Jason Bourne (Damon) and Maria (Franke Potente) have settled into hiding in India, but Jason's not right yet. He has fragmented memories, headaches, and fear that it's not over...he is right about that. The CIA has found his prints at a botched mission and that opens up the top secret group that Bourne was part of, along with an investigation head by Pam Landy (excellent Joan Allen) into the workings of mission head Ward Abbott (returning Brian Cox who's role is more defined). An assassin from Moscow comes to kill Bourne and this starts the tale of revenge and mystery about his past. Jason's back on "the grid" and he's still got the chops to tail his pursuers with ease (even though we the viewer must accept this without questions).
Not to spoil the plot, but I found the script as overdone, and we have to accept the fact that Bourne can just get out of every situation (some fun, some not). Returning is Julia Stiles in a much bigger role (she had little to do in the first film) and location work in Berlin and Moscow are plus points. The end car chase is brilliant (more of a demolition derby) and look for Chris Cooper in flashbacks. Paul Greengrass takes over the directors spot and he is a fine addition. There will be more to come and I am happy. BTJhave a ball (http://www.browntownjohnny.com/index.php)
