I currently have DSL and I must say, Im less than happy with it. So Ive been thinking of getting cable but Im not sure which one to get. Optimum Online seems pretty good and not much more expensive than what I have now. Are there better ones out there that I should consider getting or is Optimum Online the way to go?

Depending on where you live, you'll have no choice in the matter. It's either Optimum or Comcast HSI.
No matter what, Cable service is awesome. I had Comcast HSI when I was down the shore, and it was good, but for some reasonm Optimum doesn't have the same speed caps that Comcast has.
I recommend it.

Everything else about Cablevision sucks but Optimum Online rules. Fast and very reliable. As much as I hate to do this, I highly recommend it.

I currently have comcast high speed internet and wish that you could choose your cable service the way you can choose your phone service. I thought thats what the telecommunications act of 1996 was supposed to do, support competition. Optimum's cap is higher than comcasts highest speed cable internet is, i believe that is the cable for business and that cable for business costs around 99 bucks a month. It is definitely worth the switch.

Got something against Time-Warner's Road Runner service?

Or Patriot Media, I think they have cable modem's as well.
Anyway, I used to live in a toen with comcast and had the HSI, then I moved to an apartment with optimum, and there is no comparision. it is twice as fast, which is a real lot when you are talking fast to begin with. i downloaded a whole Linux CD (684 MB) in 7 minutes and 30 seconds. it is fucking awesome. and you can get it now for 6 months at 19.99. way worth it.

Sorry you are correct. If you do have cable though, you can pay for the optonline and get the free VoIP for one year. I think they call it Opimum Voice or something, so you could, in theory, cancel your home phone.

Have OO for 4 years now, it's been very reliable and plenty fast. 44.95 per month, luckily my job pays or else i'd be dialing in which most likely means 'no internet play for me', just info gathering...

When I got Charter Cable's Pipeline I was wondering why the fuck it was so slow... Optimum Online is by far the fastest cable I've ever had/seen. It's very fast and there was 99% uptime. No comparison what so ever.

Cable companies pretty much monopolize regions. Whichever cable company you have is the only one for your area and only one for your cable modem.

Optimum Online is the greatest. Never had any problems, only of course when people dont pay the bill after 3 months because Optimum Online charged him 3 Pennies more than the bill should of been and it was shut off
