View Full Version : How much money?

How much money do you have on your self on an average day? There have been more than a few times when I have been out with friends and they have NO cash, or maybe 8 bucks or something stupid like that. when I say something, they always come back at me with the stupid response of "well i have a ATM/Credit/debt card."
Maybe it is my Italian upbringing, but my Dad and grandfather both always have a lot of cash on them. I always have a few hundred dollars on me. Never really less than 400.
And before everyone flips and says I am crazy it has saved me a few times. Once place did not take credit cards and we needed to pay cash and I laid it out for everyone. Somestime you are somewhere and want to order food. i have had friends who have to LEAVE where we are to go get cash at an ATM to pay for god damn delivery. Other times I have been places where there is an imprompto poker game which I have joined. Having cash just makes life so much easier. And spare me the comments of "where do you live again" and "so, where do you hang out?"
Does anyone carry cash anymore?

Man, I rarely have more than $40-$60 on me.
I'd say on an average day it's only a couple of bucks at best.
Yeah, it's definitely falling back on the check card for me. I mean, I have that and three credit cards, and my check book is usually with me, so I'm almost always set. It's rare when I get into a situation that those can't cover...and if they can't, what the fuck am I doing in that dump in the first place?
Naw, fuck that noise. Cash don't equal class.

I usually just hit the ATM before I go out for a night and just take out what I think will be enough. I work from home so unless I order a pizza or something I really dont need that much cash on me.

Less, recently, than before. I'm closer to home (I moved home closer to work) so I don't usually buy lunch, I just run home. My Scottish heritage is showing; TV dinners were 10 for $10 last week.
Right now I have $6 on me.

Now? I'd like to have about $50 at any moment.
In College? Me and my friends were so broke, a twenty was considered what a C note would be today. $20 got you a great weekend; enough booze and a couple of non-shitty meals. If you had Any money; $10, whatever, it was usually owed to someone, or you debated: booze, food, drugs, which was it gonna be, coz you couldnt afford all three.
Did I just complain about life during college? Wow.
[Edit: In high School, we were even broker then that. My friends and I would hit all of our parents change; just clean the fucking drawers out, youd be amazed how much change are in some peeps bathroom drawers, and then roll it into those coin rollers, and this was mostly pennies and nickels, much less dimes and Quarters were a find. One kid's dad had these jars of pennies and we'd spend frigging all day to roll up $20 or $40 of change to grab a Bag and some beers and if youre lucky enough gas money to hit SleazeSide and back.]
