View Full Version : Culpepper or Vick?

This one league that Im in is already drafted and this guy offered me a trade; Culpepper for Vick straight up...Vick was awesome the year before but his value really dropped with the injury, and even after the injury he didnt do that well...Culpeppers value skyrocketed after last season and although the sample size from Vick is smaller, I think Culpepper is more consistent through the entire season. So...who do you guys think is better?

make it, chances are rushing yards are worth more in your league anyway and culpepper has become more of a pocket passer. i wouldnt say vick is "prone" to injury, he may be more of a risk of injury due to him getting out of the pocket when nobody is open. vick should have a great bounceback year as long as he doesnt do something stupid, like be on this years madden cover or the sports illustraded cover. just get yourself a decent backup and don't worry. if hasselbeck is available grab him he put up great numbers for me last year.

I like Culpepper better, as well, because he's more durable. And I don't mean that just based on Vick getting hurt & taking twice as long to return last year, Culpepper is a mountain of a man. And although Vick's main target isn't shabby, Culpepper does still throw to Randy Moss.
OK, now, not to hi-jack your thread, but I need some help also & I know I'll get a lot of opinions here & I want to hear all sides of this. I'm in a keeper league & can only keep three players from the following list:
- Michael Vick
- Marc Bulger
- Chad Pennington
- Kurt Warner
- Randy Moss
- Anquan Boldin
- Edgerin James
- Marshall Faulk
- Domanick Davis
Can protect:
- 1 QB, 1 WR, 1 RB
- 0 QB, 2 WR, 1 RB
- 0 QB, 1 WR, 2 RB
Whatta'ya think?

I would keep Randy Moss, Edgerin James and Vick.
Vick is the best QB, Moss is a great receiver and I think is going to start trying much harder than he did previously. And Edgerin James is going to get more running progress and Payton gets the defense to worry about the passing game a lot more.

I would take the trade. Culpepper is always great, as is Vick, but I think Moss is going to have a sick year and the man throwing to him will be Culpepper

before you do anything look at their schedules, see whoever is playing the weaker secondary in the playoffs and decide from there.

there is alot of talk of Faulk still being hurt and possibly missing a whole bunch of time. I would keep D. Davis, E. James and Moss. there are a ton of good QB's and feel RB is the most important position to fill. if you end up dropping all 4 or your QBs you have a good chance of getting one of the main 3 back or at least someone similiar to Pennington and Bulger.

didn't he get hurt in 02 also. i believe playing vs Tampa Bay. i thought he misssed a game or two then. and he only started 2 games in 2001, so you can't count that year...4 of them were college years, which is tough, but not like the NFL. so he has had 2 pro years...one he missed most of the year due to injury(2003) and i still think he missed a game and a half in 2002 due to injury.
what i really meant was that his style of play is more prone to injury. he can't run that much in the NFL without being a big threat to get injured. he isn't as big as Culpepper. I would let someone take the risk on the guy and go with a safer choice in Culpepper.
oh, and you quoted my post so i assumed i'm the retard. which if fine, but i wanted company on my yellow bus.

DO SOME RESEARCH
You are right, he didnt play his rookie year much, only 2 starts. thats about where it ends though.
he started 15 games the year after, he missed one, not sure why, but seemed pretty fine when he went into lambaugh field and whipped ass in the playoffs, he got hurt last year.
i counted his rookie year, cause you can get injured just as easy in practice, plus he did play a few games and pre season, which is where he got hurt last year.
3 years pro, 2years, thats right 2 YEARS college ball, and the other 3 i was counting was his HS football years.
now you wanna wanna say HS and college big deal. except prone is prone, and if you get hurt alot, youd get hurt in HS and college too.
he got hit in the shin with a helmet and his shin broke. so would have mine, yours, everyone else we know, and 85% of the NFL's. it was a freak injury, it wasnt like Griffey style where he just pulled it running 17 times

Culpepper runs almost as much as vick, he just isnt as good at it. number 2, vick is learning to run less, throw more, he wants to be a QB.
and #3, why the fuck cant he run. he is 6'4 220 ish, he cant take hits? barber only ways 200, Meggett didnt even weight that, they were RB's. why cant he take carrying the ball 5-8 times a game, they do it 20+

Culpepper runs, but he doesn't take the hits Vick does. and i see you blew over the missed game in 2002...you labeled it a "not sure why"...its because he got hurt.
hey, take Vick in every draft your in and hold your breath on every run he makes. again, this was a fantasy football question and my reasoning for not taking Vick is injury. i'd take the consistent Culpepper over Vick every time. hopefully he doesn't get hurt as he is fun to watch, but i'm not taking the risk.

vick missed one game that year, i dont consider that a big deal. the most damaging hits vick is gonna take in his career arent gonna be open field by DB's, they are gonna be 350 pound lineman flopping down on him and his arm or head
randall cunningham did pretty well runnin around too, he only got hurt 1 time

They went into that game so cocky because they weren't going to have to face Vick & just beat Dallas in Big D. Then came out & put on an absolute crap-fest. Thinking about that game still makes me angry.
But Snoogans, you still haven't given your opinion on either of the two original questions.

for this year, culpepper over vick, better support, but after that, vick is better, his team is nasty
Vick, Davis (younger, healthier than faulk, and very good, and bouldin, he gets alot more overall passes than moss, and is nasty and will only get better, esp with fitz

Sills, if you have Vick see if you can get the guy with Culpepper to give you a second player, maybe a running back. Culpeppers more consistent but if Vicks healthy all year his numbers are gonna be off the charts.
Crippler, keep Vick Moss and Edge.
I dont trust Faulk this year and fuck Domanick Davis.
