Anyone who was on this board last summer probably remembers my silverfish thread where I graphically described the slow killing process of a silverfish on my bedroom windowsill.

Well... it's summer, and with all the rain we've been having lately, these sons of bitches are back, with a vengeance. But once again, my vow will stand true... to rid the world (or at least my apartment) of these ugly nasty bastards. I've killed like 5 in the last week, and one just popped up on me and surprised me. So I did it... I alcohol'd him to death, and now his body is laid out on the windowsill for all his silverfish community to see. Let this be another example. Let this be a message. DON'T COME AROUND HERE SILVERFISH, OR YOU WILL PAY WITH YOUR LIFE.

Get rid of any/all paper around, they love starch and eat it, especially the stuff in book bindings and wallpaper paste. Or if yer like me with a gazillion books, you do the best you can; havent seen any in a while, but...

Oh, and here's good times for reproduction. The males silverfish does a little courtship dance and then, never even touching the female, drops a sperm packet, that the female then takes and puts in her vagina. The human equivalent of a woman watching a guy batch and, then...

i had a 48x36 print of guernica that kept getting a silverfish stuck right in the middle of the white border ... removing the print to clean with a thin sheet of glass was not fun ...

Yep; when I moved I took down same things, and there were little corpses where some of the fuckers had bought it. I'd say they Ate it there, but literally, they did!

I read it's the pastes and glues used to bind the stuff more then the paper that attracts them.

before, but silverfish fall into my area of expertise. I own a pest
control company in NYC and have been getting rid of those suckers for
years. They have been really bad this year and have seen a general
reimergence the last couple. The rise is this area stems from 2 things
in my opinion. First is the riduclous amount of new home building.
Second is the perverse amount of rain the last 3 years. Yes, they do
eat paper and are often found in attics for 2 reasons. First they like
heat and second they tend to live on the paperbacking of insulation. If
you are seeing them in a bathroom and it has a skylight, make sure to
seal any spaces around the skylight with silicone. This will cut them
down immediately.</font><br />

When it gets real hot, especially after it rains. I have no idea what those are actually called, so I've always just called them "thousand-leggers." They love to show up on your wall and startle the shit out of you, and they love to show up in your bathtub in the morning (much like silverfish). <br><br>They should both be eliminated from Earth.
