View Full Version : My Stupid Commentary on the RAW Diva Search

Ok, considering all the other idocy in some varied irrelevant threads on here, I figured I would give a shot.

The RAW Diva Search.

Ok. They get rid of Tough Enough which I liked and which actually gave kids a tryout to be WRESTLERS for a wrestling organization and it seems as if they come up and replace it with this. Do these women even have to learn how to wrestle at all? Is it even a requirement? Or will they just get by on being hot. Is the talent pool that shallow? Is the Women's Division that bad? I didn't even watch RAW tonight but I bet the Women's match was Victoria vs' say Molly Holly. And I like the both of them the best cause I know they can actually wrestle. Hey, I love to see hot women and none better than some eye candy to go with my wrestling but this just seems a bit nutty. I can just see it now as if whoever wins winds up in the ring in 3 months and just looks horrible and wastes good tv time that some good wrestling could be taking place.

The prize money.

$250,000. Is the WWE losing that much money that this is all they can give? I mean it just sounds like so little for this. Vince, you can't even sping a cool Million into this whole thing? Or is that going to Triple H so he doesn't sulk while he doesn't have the title.

This whole thing just makes no sense to me and how they are putting that much effort into the whole thing. It just seems as if week after week there is less and less wrestling taking place anymore. Or is this the whole idea to have wrestling BASED entertainment. I know why I pulled myself away from watching and devoting my time to the thing that I used to love so much. Thank God for TNA though. At least giving me a bit of my wrestling fix cause those WWF DVD's are almost done being viewed.

I had to vent.

This thing is too stupid for words.

I'm not even sure what the point of it is, except perhaps Vince thought that this would be a good little reality-TV type thing for him to do this summer. The problem is that no one gives a shit about it (did you hear the boos tonight?), and the contest is pretty much already rigged (there's a couple former Playboy Playmates in this thing - look for one of them to win).

I don't see the point in it all, as whoever wins is going to pretty much be another Stacy - just eye candy with absolutely no wrestling skill whatsoever, nor any inclination to try and learn how to work a match.

Just remember, folks - we'll see whatever dumb bitch wins this a lot quicker, and for a lot longer, than we'll ever see Alexis Laree show up on WWE programming.

Not just playmates, but Playmates of the Year.

I doubt there's a write-in ballot, or I'd vote for Peachy. She would deserve that prize. :)

what a waste of time. the whole segment in Bischoffs office was horrible. a few girls had to cover their mouths to hide the laughing. and there had to be better contestants than a few of those girls.

Re: Prize Money

Considering that the highest-paid diva (Trish) makes about 200-250 K with bonuses, it's no wonder why they didn't go higher with the prize money.

In general, it's a pretty decent marketing ploy. By allowing the viewers to vote, he's giving the Horny Teen demographic what they want to see - and then Vince can profit off of licensing her image, because he already knows people want to see her.

In other words, it's the American Idol concept.

I guarantee you the African-American girl gets voted off because she couldn't keep her mouth shut last night.

Personally, I think this would work 10 times better with a bunch of indy workers.

Take 10 indy workers. Every week, there's two tag matches. One on SD!, the other on RAW!, mixing up the talents.

The matches and interviews will also be streamed on WWE 24/7.

Viewers vote on who they like and who they don't. Winner gets a contract.

How long is this garbage going to last? How bad was the segment in Bischoff's office?

The PMOY aren't the only celebs. The Man Show Twins and Amy Weber from Son of the Beach are also finalists.

Please, voting for me would be akin to voting for either #21 or #44 in O&A's Naughty Nightie contest. (Not that I look anything like either of them, but it'd be just as wasted a vote)

I will have to dig up my Contest Pics and do some research.

I had NO idea that Trish only got $250 K for a salary. That seems so low. I just assumed that all the stars got at least a Million.

That is also really lame how thee are Playmates and Man Show girls in this competition. I wouldn't have minded amateurs cause then it would have been more of a competition I would think. This also makes me wonder if these girls were "hired" in a sense for the competition to make it look like they were competing. I really haven't watched much of the competition so I don't know.

Nope. She gets voted off because she's the African American girl.

Last nights "Verbal Seduction" challenge was horrible and proved that these women know nothing except how to put on make up and tight clothes. The art of "verbal Seduction" does not include grabbing, groping, or dry humping. And there was the one girl that was totally thrown off by it being Uganda.

This is just sad, I think someone thought it would be a good idea (Vince), but didn't think of how to pull off the execution.

Everything in this RAW diva search is a waste of my time as a viewer. One girl was almost amusing. If all 9 girls received the same number of votes to remove, can we get rid of all of them?

I would have been much happier if Kamala came out last night and ruined Orton's "legend killer" string of victories. Kamala rules...but where was Kimchi to keep him in line in case he wanted to eat the cameraman?:)

were there only 2 matches last night? i remember the battle royal, the Diva search and then the Iron man match. they couldn't do a quicker diva segment and try to squeeze two more matches in.

The one I like is Christy Hemme, the red head. She used to be a Juggee on the Man Show, and she seems to be the only one with a sense of humor.

The girl who said nothing to Kamalla was also the one who just stood there and didn't move while they did the Voting run down. She's uselsess.

If you read reports from fans who attend the shows, the Diva segments apparently get booed off the stage by the live crowd - it's happened at least twice in a row.

This really has to be the most worthless contest ever, as they're ultimately going to give a contract to a woman who has absolutely no background at all in wrestling, nor any desire to get into wrestling - which would make them even more useless than Stacy Keibler, which is quite the remarkable feat.

I just see this also another way that the WWE is moving further and further away from wrestling. What with their movie company starting and isn't there a record label too? This is really becoming Wrestling based Entertainment more and more and makingme turn further and further away. It really is a shame. Thank goodness Impact is on FSN now down here.

The record label was a joke from the beginning. Anyone remember how they signed a band to their label - only to literally have that band drop them weeks or months later for a "real" label? After that, the label was supposed to be the vehicle used to produce the Jeff Hardy rock album, but that ended when he was canned. Now it's going to be used to push the John Cena hip hop album (which comes out in October or November, for those who care).

The movie production company is a MAJOR disaster waiting to happen. Their best bet is market the films as B-Movie fare, and distribute it directly to video stores (or to one of the pay cable networks that shows movies, like Showtime or Cinemax or Starz). I can't really see them making money on the venture - hell, they'd have to give each film a pretty decent budget (at least a few million) if they want to even make a decent-looking b-movie.

The problem is compounded by the fact that they're casting WWE stars in leading roles. While the HHH film has been indefinitely postponed, I think they still plan to go ahead with the Kane monster movie, but the film that definitely looks to be happening is a John Cena action flick titled "The Marine" where Cena plays an ex-Marine who must rescue his girlfriend from a kidnapping plot. That's supposed to actually start filming in the fall.

I think they missed the boat on the movie thing. If they were ever going to do it, it should have been done in 2000, when wrestling was still in its last peak, and they could have produced some modestly successful films starring the Rock or Austin.

[quote]This is really becoming Wrestling based Entertainment more and more and makingme turn further and further away. It really is a shame. Thank goodness Impact is on FSN now down here.

You know what? TNA is pissing me off with Impact.

It's their BEST vehicle to showcase & promote the product.

And the BEST way to showcase & promote their product is to air good matches every week.

WHICH MEANS I DON'T WANT TO TURN IN EVERY WEEK FOR AN HOUR'S WORTH OF JOBBER SQUASHES.

If I wanted to see company wrestlers squash indy workers, I'd just watch Velocity every week.
