The Water Museum
The Division of Motor Vehicles
There's a new play on South St., called "What if Gore Won?"
And I think Whoopi Goldberg is playing Live tonight at another Bush Bash.
Oh; and there are several great places to lose one's virginity in Philly.
Just some random ideas.
Ah Philly, the place of my first, only, and last Hooker. Yow.

The Camden/Philly waterfront........there's the Independence Sea port museum (i think it's called that), go on the ship and the submarine they have there ----and you can even take the Ferry to NJ to visit the USS New Jersey Battleship, the Camden Aquarium.
Independence Hall, Liberty Bell and all the other historic stuff.

Take the ferry over to Camden, NJ and walk around a bit. After you've been robbed of everything on you, you can visit the prison. They'd like you there.

Sad;y all of my Philly experience occurred mostly at Fiji [phi gamma delta] parties at the U. of P. while I was 'attending' classes at Villanova U.
I dont recommend the Fiji House.
Mutter Museum rocks.

Well, OK, besides CBP, there are many places of interest.
First, I recommend going to Nick's Old Original Roast Beef (http://www.idelco.com/nicks/) and getting one on the Out's. It's at 20th and Jackson. Then after that head East to just past Front Street on Oregon Avenue and gfet yourself a Roast Pork with Sharp Provolone at Tony Luke's (http://www.tonylukes.com/). After that head North a few blocks through some nice South Philly neighborhoods and go to Geno's, NOT Pat's but Geno's Steaks (http://www.genosteaks.com/) and get a Whiz With. By the way, while you are on Oregon Av. stop by the Oregon Diner (http://philadelphia.citysearch.com/profile/8992649?cslink=roundup_name_noncust&ulink=roundup__roundupentity2-4_1__0_profile_2_1) for some really good coffee. You may want to get some Water Ice at any of the Rita's Water Ice's you will pass in your travels. After Geno's, head North to South Street where you can walk off all you ate you filthy fucking slob of a man. There is about 10 blocks worth of shops and places to tool around until nighttime hits. In case you happen to get hungry I recommend Jim's Steaks (http://www.jimssteaks.com/) or Lorenzo's Pizza. Some of the best food i have ever had. I recommend even takinbg one of the HUGE slices of Lorenzo's Pizza (http://www.hollyeats.com/Lorenzo.htm) (preferably with Pepperoni) and wrapping it around your Jim's Steak (American With) and eating it like that. For your listening enjoyment I recommend Noise Pollution, Rock N Roll Plus, Digital Underground, Philadelphia Music Exchange or the Relapse Record Store. Noise is BY FAR the best. R N R + ha a nice mix of some punk, hardcore and some really obscure scare the shit out of you black, death and gore metal and all things that worship satan. Still fun to go in there though. Most of the good stuff is primarily between 2nd and 8th for the most part. Check the side streets for Digital Underground and I recall there being a specialty goth record shop in there somewhere too. I think off 5th for both. Chestnut Street is pretty happening an you can find some pretty good shops along there as well from 2nd out to around 20th. If there is a show going on at the Khyber (http://www.thekhyber.com/) or The Trocadero (http://www.thetroc.com)I recommend both those places as they RULE! The AMAZING Mitchell & Ness (http://www.mitchellandness.com) is also on Chestnut Street. i LOVE that place. When it is starting to get a bit dark (maybe around 7:30 or so) head North to Spring Garden and 5th where you will find the Silk City Diner (http://www.phillypa.org/silkcity/). You can get yourself a pretty decent meal. I recommend the Catfish. Then you can go next door to the Silk City Lounge and watch whatever crazy themed night they may have. I like to frequent the old school porno/cult movie nights myself. So that will take you to about Midnight. Head on back down to South Street to the corner of 4th. Walk South 1 half block and look left (this will be on the left side of the street) you will notice 611 Records (http://www.611records.com/) and a BIG Gene Simmons painting on the wall. There is this club there called Fluid (http://www.fluidnightclub.com/). You can go in there and groove out and chill for a few hours until they close. I LOVE that place. That should be a good night for you you slimy bastard. Go home. I don't know what kind of stuff you do in your privacy but hopefully you will have a nice lady friend with you for the trip. You need anyone to show you around, you know where to find me.

so what's your favorite city?
Wow.
It used to be NY City [oh boy...], but the City has changed, for me, twice: the first the shift from the dirty squeegee guys 42nd St = nothing but Porn and Martial Arts city, and the second September 11, 2001. Since then I don't go often, weirdly. It feels... other to me now. In Times Square, I get the feeling of displacement; that things aren;t as they should be, go figure.
Anyway; I fell in love with Washington DC, and that's my fave city, and what a cop out, because it's the nations capitol, and the district and all that, but two things; first, L'Effanat [or however the hell you spell it] who designed the city with the radiating street pattern designed a masterpiece, and it is so thick with history that I cant help but be drawn to it.
Whats best in a city is how it speaks to you at 3am. That's the time to walk a city, to really feel the history, come right out of the walls, past the new. You can feel the old Times Square, but only around 3AM, and if you're lucky, but then you open your eyes, and...
Anyway, what a ramble... I just ate a [burp] sub.

So I guess after reading everything else, I seem to be coming from the totally non tourist part of the population. I really hate all the clubs and scum that are laid out around Delaware Avenue and Spring Garden. I guess I stick more closer to the places where the working class and common people go. Oh yeah, stay out of South Street on a weekend evening cause all the scum from North Philly come in and take over. I liked it btter when we scummy punk had South Street as our home. Fucking Q102(insert shitty dance/pop/rap station here) based dance clubs. I hate them! Hate them I say! I do love the Art Museum though. How the hell could I have forgotten that. I only made it up the first 20 steps or so before I began to pant. And yes Reef, the Rocky theme ALWAYS goes through my head when I am there or the Italian Market.

L'Effanat [or however the hell you spell it] who designed the city with the radiating street pattern designed a masterpiece, and it is so thick with history that I cant help but be drawn to it.
L'Enfant did design the original plan, but he was a tempremental Frenchman and left (or was dismissed, i'm not 100% certain) prior to the town being laid out. The son of a slave by the name of Bejamin Banneker who was assisting with the design redid the plans from memory, preserving L'Enfant's design.
Wait, wasn't this thread about Philadelphia? Now that city was laid out by none other than William Penn himself. It was the first instance of the basic city grid, which almost every other city in the US follows (Boston being the notable exception).

Marist Mike, if you are underage, don't worry, there are still plenty of great places to see. Check out The Franklin Institute (http://sln.fi.edu/) and The Academy Of Natural Science (http://www.acnatsci.org/), which are both great places that you can spend an entire day. Then you can walk outside and take the trip up the street to see The Art Museum.
Eastern State Penitentiary (http://www.easternstate.org/) is another excellent tour of one of the nations oldest standing prisons. You may remember it as the prison used in the movie "The Twelve Monkeys".
