About 2 monthes ago, the front of my house was completely Re-done. Fresh top soil was put down and raked out , then re-seeded. Some areas have grown nicely and some nothing. I stand outside every night , watering this freakin` lawn like an ass! I`ve done this before and have gotten great results. At 1st I was going to smack around the mailmail a bit for walking on it, but it`s far beyond that. Any advice?

wait til late September/early October to re-seed. Seed heavily and be sure to use starter fertilizer and lots of water. Spring time is not ideal for putting in new lawns, it's when weeds are most present and the hot sun burns alot of the new grass. Continue to water heavily til then so you can save some but don't get too upset, there is not much you can do other than water it alot. Use mostly a tall fescue rye seed with a little bluegrass seed.
my lawns was like a golf course but in the past few years i've been getting more and more 'nut sage' It's a lime green weed that looks like grass but grows much quicker. So a day or two after you cut you have groups of this nut sage higher than the rest of the lawn and it bugs me big time. I may have to Round-Up a 3rd of my lawn and start from scratch just to get rid of the nut sage. I ordered a product called Manage that only kills the leaf and it's a chemical they won't even ship to NJ. I had to have it shipped to a friend in PA. Problem is it doesn't kill the root.

Same here; and I try like hell in the spring.
I dont get it, the soile looks the same as just over there two feet away! I get these big patches, and I do all the 'recommeded' stuff, but I'm still staring at dirt with dead seeds sprinkled on top.
Well; I guess it's worth a go in the fall.

Manage is translocated to the tubers providing
control of the plant.
Don't mow for a couple of days before or after and be sure to use a nonionic surfactant (I use Break Thru, it's also a penetrant, but really pricey for a home owner).
I'm sure some one can point out how much dove detergent you might need to achieve the same thing.

question: if i use Round Up, will it kill the nut sage from stem to root? or will the root still be intact?
Thanks!

Ya know this really pisses me off because I really love Science but my Botany Prof was such a tool, oh man we hated that class, to the point of learning next to nada.
Xylem? Phloem?
All those plant names? I remember about two.
My advice; get some nice white sand, some big boulders, a rake, and make a nice Zen Buddhist Rock Garden kinda thing.
I once read an article about someone who stole someone's lawn.

Both Round Up and Manage work on the whole plant. Manage won't wipe out the rest of the lawn.
This is the Yellow nutsedge link, Manage is the last item. (http://www.rce.rutgers.edu/pubs/pdfs/fs543.pdf)

two years ago and for the first time in my life i called a Lawn Care company, Lawn Doctor i think...
he said the Manage only kills the blade and not the root. being most came back the following year 'i believed him'
one good thing is the nut sedge will eventually stop growing, possibly mid to late august if i remember correctly...
