this is a take off of blakjeezis' thread.

Do you know? this isn't something that is easily looked up on the net.

My name means "freeman" it was originally Danish. When the Danes invaded Ireland, there were three classes or soldiers, noblemen, conscripts, and freemen. i'm a descendant of the third group obviously. so over the past 1000 years, it's morphed into it's current spelling and pronunciation.

Last name - not on database.

My last name used to be Lopez which means"son of Lope" in Spanish. Lope is Spanish form of Lupus.

Lupus is a French form of the Late Latin name Lupus which meant "wolf". Lupus was the name of several early saints, including a 5th-century bishop of Troyes who apparently convinced Attila to spare the city.

Wright English
From Old English wryhta meaning "worker", an occupational name for someone who was a manufacturer.

As evidenced by how much time I spend on this board, not all surnames are accurate.

My last name means "from the firey hills" its scottish. Combine that with my first name (Gwenyth, which means the fair haired one) and that makes me "The fair-haired one from the firey hills", kinda kick ass.

Also Last Names is a pretty good online surname directory.
